Finish yota and clean shop tomorrow.
Then monday the hot rod i was talking about is coming. Thought it was ‘32, but its a 39 chevy.
 
What I can tell you is when I had my engine broke in on the dyno they found max HP at 18* initial with my 14* total mechanical. Im not wanting max HP, but drive-ability.
Hey Ramie, somehow overlooked this part.
The initial not too related to max hp.
The 32* is related, but that's at what rpm? Bet its 5300 to 5700 rpm at peak.

Those are useful baseline numbers, especally for the top end.
You'll probly end up somewhere around there.
 
No Idea, Never noticed anyone test there before. I have a bunch of parts if they need them. Lots of 65 cuda trim even have some belve stuff still.
 
I agree, but since he's not using the vac advance shouldn't be causing the bog.
You know how fast the tach drive distributor comes in!
Did not catch that it is a tach drive. Need a number on it. If it is electronic they hit fast have two MP springs in them from the few I have had..

Its not. I was just making the comparison because what he's trying to figure out a bog.
Its one of the Mallory MP distributors.
 
Really depends on what springs it has in it. Hope he has a kit for it. I like those.

Matt I talked to Ray about the timing on mine. After we put the rebuilt distributor in it had a miss. Checked and re-set the points gap to .017. I probably messed with it before we installed it...haha Sun card says .014-.019
Ran lots better, miss was gone, but still not quite right...like Ben haha. You'd give the pedal a quick stomp and get a single quick exhaust backfire.
Timing was set at 5*, WTH, missed something there when he set it up.
Sun card has it at 12 1/2*. Ok why not just 12* or 13*?? I'll re-set the timing. Just waiting for my ebay timing light I bought (with Ray's recommendation)to do it right.
