@Mopar Tim the new battery I put in is exactly the same as the one that was in there. Optima blue top marine D34M. It looks like the old one had a cracked case from the hold down system you put in. I modified it a little so it shouldn’t happen again.
 
We're missing one main bearing bolt to put the crank in... Been looking all over for it and can't find it... :BangHead:

The one with the long top for the windage tray mounting...

Sometimes I am dragging, but the kid's only gonna be around here for about another month before he goes away for college...

I'm trying to spend as much time with him and teach him how to build an engine... He's never built a complete one before, just a few minor fixes, and we tore this one down together....

So... lesson learned.

Wife’s Durango. Battery light comes on, I just replaced the alternator a month ago. She takes it by autozone, they test it, says battery is weak and won’t charge. So she tells me, I stop on the way home an get a new battery from a different auto parts store where I have a farm account(saves me 10-25 percent on batteries). I get home, pop the hood, first thing I notice is the alternator wire had worked itself loose and was arcing. Tightened it back down, turn Durango on, no more battery light... :soapbox:

So two lessons learned, double check the torque on **** and don’t trust autozone when they test a battery...

While I could return said battery, I needed one for the Polara so i guess the Polara gets a new jolt.

Buddy’s daughter bought a brand new watercraft. First couple weeks it started losing power and cutting out. Battery cable was loose. So much for a pdi.

I can see a loose nut on alternator. If you have ever tried to remove the nut on some, something is on the edge of getting destroyed. Always too damn tight. I try to get them tight, but not so much you cant get it apart later. That is the possibility of not getting it tight enough.

I was thinking of throwing a lock washer on it or double nutting it

No, the kid sold the 65 Barracuda that I was planning on trying it out on first... :(

However we are starting to build a 360 for his 68 valiant, and I may be able to use that as my first 'victim'.... Muwhahaha.... :D
 
We got the crank bearings and crank in yesterday, but are one bolt short (the taller one for the windage tray).... :BangHead:

The kid needs to order one so we can move forward... :popcorn:
