Stop in for a cup of coffee

So it's 55 degrees and a good day.

Olle and his parents showed up to tour the yard. I showed him fabo and we looked up some saab sites. After talking a long while to them, I offered help storing some saab hulks and goodies.

He would have a bigger collection but he lives in the city with a tiny driveway. My storage area is a field so quite a difference.

They are such nice peeps. They have a late 90s saab 900 with 20,000 miles in perfect condition.

Nice to see car enthusiasm no matter what brand, as long as it's not jap crap.

Amazing what 31 tons of unrelenting force can do. Only stalled it once on a knot in one of the big pieces. Otherwise it either split or cut its way through. Got all the big ones in smaller chunks and dropped it back to horizontal. I had enough for today. Probably be all done with one more good run.

Saab was at some point considered to be even a better winter car than a Volvo. The Swedes were high up on safety, always been. Good cars, but Saab was a little special compared to other cars. For example the ignition key between the seats. Nothing wrong with it, just unusual since people could not find it on the dash.

Splits easy, but doesn’t come apart clean. Stringy, hangs on and have to pull them apart sometimes
Elm.
Chinese elm is like twisted hair. wedged a block on the splitter so bad, used the chainsaw to get it off.

Just have to decide exactly where to place it and drill 4 mounting holes.
Cab seems roomy until you install seats.

That seems like a good possibility out where he is.
There's a elm replacement that's used a lot too. I always mess up the name. Something like Zelkova

This was one of my favorites..but might be considered bad sportsmanship to place on a trophy?
Anyway some of the color is washed out - seems to a problem with the soft yellow - at least with digital photography.

Matt, is this sort of not going so very fast, but more that you have to be concentrated and not hitting anything. Sort of a you have to do it in the shortest amount of time, but still not hit anything. Like more of a skill test ?

Bill

Just honing them skills, Dave!
All it needs now is a little air under the right front tire:thumbsup:
Very, very rarely is there a course set up where that happens.
And since karts and such have been allowed by SCCA (except in NJ), course designers are all that more careful about avoiding that sort of fun.

Exactly.
Guidelines for course designs include wording about top speeds not to exceed typical highway speeds.

In the recent past I posted a summary of the game rules. Let me see if I can find it quick.
