Yes they can why though? Screwdriver or coil wire works fine. Better yet lick it and jump the starter relay! Chris just take 12v and run it to the + side of the coil and see if you get spark. If you do it is a wiring issue, if not ignition side. You can get 12v to the coil but no amps also easily with old wiring. That's what a load light is for.
LOL Tin foil hat is recommended
1 for better ground to hood
2 Absorb the impact if you get spark.

I've tried the coil wire to engine block trick. Do the coils have to energize for a bit ? If so, maybe thats my problem.

A few milliseconds is all. Hey did you check the coil with a ohm meter?
yes, the old one showed nothing, new one moved the gauge way to the right but I forget the number off top of my head

Im going to take my seat apart finally and pull the cover to look for the head rest locations.. I just cant feel where they should go or if the frame has the spots for them..

Google the specs there is a primary and secondary resistance. I am really thinking wiring. did you jump the new coil with 12VDC and see if it works?

Good morning Coffee Land. 2°F this AM and windy. Supposed to get back close to 40°F by this weekend.

Gee that helps. Need a number and how you hooked it up. Did you buy that digital meter a while ago with the dwell option I posted?

yep, nada. I even bypassed the ballast when i did it. I'm wondering if a bad dizzy wire maybe, thats the one thing I didn't check.

The microwave sounds like it's going to throw a rod this morning!
