Stop in for a cup of coffee

All is good here. Going to leave well enough alone. Maybe touch up the needles. maybe not.

Spoke with Frank at Orna-metal this afternoon. I'm sending them the cluster panel for vacuum plated and painted. They seemed to prefer removing the clear lenses themselves so I'll let them do it.

That leaves where to send the speedometer for repair as the only major decision. Spoke with John Wolf & Co, Bob's Speedometer, and the guy at Mr Heaterbox. Bob's was a bit rushed but they all seem like they could fix it. Bob's is the only one that also makes cables. So that may be the deciding factor.

I see them all the time NOS what application and price range.

The bearings for the drum are worn - like 20 thousanth movement. That's why it sometimes bounced and sometimes hit the spinning shell.

Awsome! Thank you both. Great ideas.
That's a lot better than having to try to make some adapter work.

Hey I may have just lucked on the defroster vents. Long time member just posted some tan ones for sale. Looks like the brown ones in my car. Worth a gamble.

If you want to bring them by, I have a big roll of gaffers tape and we can do them here.

Actually sounds good Dave. Probably get nicer results than me doing it on my own.
Some time its convenient for you. I'm figuring 6 - 7 weeks before the dash panel gets back here.

We had some really wide 2" heat shrink tape we used at work, no idea where to buy it that would be a restorers dream!

Was made by Raychem. They make the coax slice tubes with the solder in them some people use for wire soldering. Just have to get in touch with connector world they will know where to find it. They just do just connectors mostly aviation stuff.
