Or the va. But you have to get his paperwork to show them you are related. I had to show my dads death certificate to get his record.

I found paperwork of their issue. I last I saw them they were in a nice decorative case. I did find the DD 214 what a mess. Not worth it to me at this point. My cousin wants me to go back down with him to get the guns and ashes but I am not up to it.

Nope. Not anymore. Military service records are publicly available, they’ll be redacted of PII but anyone can request them from the Archives in St Louis. Non relative and non death/injury related requests though can tak up to a year.

That’s how that ex Seal gets them to chase down cases of stolen valor

I would highly recommend reconsidering. You’ll likely regret not doing it later on

Good morning All. Slushy mix this AM. Couple inches and some rain/drizzle now. Hate seeing everything white all over again, but it is spring in WI.

Expecting snow here too. This afternoon through tomorrow.
Guess i need to hang the plow back on my pickup.

Good Morning All! Home today taking care of wife, she will do too much if I go to work. Doc gave her antibiotics, I want to give them a chance to start working. Finally got a buyer for the trees that are down the hill, might go down there with my limbing saw and start getting the branches out of the pile.

I need to go find the underground bee hive I got nailed by last fall. Will go down the hill today, hopefully they aren't too active yet.

Wow, I can't believe the amount of people that are way over their head in this hobby. Projects done that only a veteran should tackle.

Stolen valor is no longer a crime.....
yes it is. But they did change the formula for charging. Now the person doing it must have received a tangible benefit, IE: VA healthcare or something else measurable. Prior to that, it was chargeable just for wearing the uniform and/or medals without earning them.

Good morning all, Getting last things loaded for Vegas baby!!

Just wearing the wrong uniform or decorations is not, if you are just trying to show off.........or trying to get laid....
