If it runs with the key in the start position, it runs. The failure to run in just the on position means it isn’t getting power anymore as his test proved. He doesn’t have it wired right.

Fix the wiring and then move on to diagnosing the fast idle condition. It is a compound problem that needs to be fixed one step at a time.

When people always go “Well first I did A, then B and now C is this...”, my first assumption is that A is wrong. No point is discussing further if A isn’t correct.

Well, none of it is correct. IMO he needs to get the engine running any way he can to see if the old *** thing is worth the effort. Hence the hot wire...
That is how I would proceed.....

I put in an order for some fargo parts,but there is stuff on backorder. The cdn dollar is not great right now,$1.36 buys one usd.
No idea when it will improve,im hoping it will climb before order gets filled.
 
Well my county just got locked down last night. Figures she has to get her medical Marijuana today also!

I am not sure if we are stuck yet. Would be better if they canceled crew change and left us where we are. 2 of the other companies have already done that to protect thier people. They are also paying the ones at home.
Since a holdings company out of NY owns the company I work for they dont realy look care about anything but the bottom line.
When I got laid off in 2016 I was home 28+ days and they laid me off the day after I was supposed to go back to work. The next month the CEO got a 7.4 million dollar bonus.
 
Be tough to work for a guy like that, but sometime you can't be picky.
