Stop in for a cup of coffee

Question one of the taillight bezels had a taillight wire wrapped in a brownish green looking unknown material. Even had a old white tag with a number, maybe a part number??
Almost certainly.
The p/n for the instrument harness is by the hi/low switch. Just starting to fall unravel now but held up well all considering.

When I went back to get the doors today, I found four more taillights sockets with the same wrap, all in great shape.
What color was the old stuff?? Anyone know??
I'll post a pic later.
I can see what's left of mine, but that area has been repaired twice from rear end hits.
Also the wire coverings have been falling apart since before I bought it.
It probably lived under a carport and the sun baked the trunk.
Paint back there was so thin that the primer showed through at the stripe. (stripes were painted before the body color in case anyone is curious)

Yup. The covering on mine are frayed just like that. Must be original fraying.

P/n for sure. I've found the easiest place to check is the assembly drawings - at least for me.

Good afternoon.

Looks like the pavement must be getting hot these days. I was leaving work and turned a corner and floored the pedal, left a peg leg black mark on the turn ....(weak)

So I get on the highway headed towards Denver and "boom" the passenger rear tire blows, and leaves hot pieces of rubber in a trail to the side of the road. I know they were freaking hot because I tried to clean it up a little and it was too hot to touch the rubber pieces.

So I was changing the tire and two army guys stopped and insisted they help change the tire. In the time they insisted, I could have had it done. I refused and got it done anyway.

I was a little nervous back on the road because my spare is a lot older than the blown tire and I was quite a ways from home.

Made it back in one piece and now to go look for some decent tires that hold wind on the pile. :)
Spare in my '67 is a piece of junk too. Only had to use it once - and not at highway speed. D78-14

Used to be I could buy decent used tires, mounted and balanced for $15-25. That was OK when driving a $300 DD and also autocrossing it. But those days are gone, and I also learned that half worn tires are much more subject to getting flats.
Go get some decent tires. They'll improve braking, and cornering, and maybe acceleration a little if you've got the touch.

14 inch rubber is getting tough to find, at least in any kind of performance sizes....
What I find tough to believe, even my 66 Satellite has 14 inch tires!!

Spare is on the original rim. Not wide enough to support same tires that I use on the street.
There's a couple of tires available that look to be half decent replacements for the indy firehawks when the time comes. Worst case scenario is the BFG radial t/a again. That's not that terrible. I drove them in the snow.

Maybe that's my problem, I buy tires from wal mart. They have a huge selection of them but I wouldn't call them performance tires.

They are round, black and made of a percentage of rubber.

The tire that blew up was new in Jan. 2016, still have the paperwork. Could be a bad tire, who knows

Age, miles, weather, driver, all tough on tires.

I'm looking for one of the white plastic fasteners. The four that goes on each taillight stud. Let me know if you have any.
There's a very slight chance I got extra's because I bought replacement tail lights after the second accident. The one where the guy put his car's radiator into my car's bumper.

Harness is listed on Sheet D 2.0 (p340 if you have the book from Faxon)
For '67 only

That sucks.

Looks like you have an 805,
or rather a small section of that harness.

Got to look up which model is 23 - I always forget those.

edit: 23 = 2 Door hardtop and
27 is the designation for convertibles.

The one tag is the second number you listed. Hard to believe how good they look.
If you could part with one, maybe two, I'd be grateful. No hurry let me know.
I went in yesterday, and looked through all the 30 year old mouse crap dusty boxes searching for that little piece of plastic. No luck...ugh!!

Last time I had a tire come apart on me while driving was due to one of these

just on the down hill side of the crest of a bridge where it could not be seen.
3 choices.
Veer into on coming traffic.
Veer right and down the 50' embankment.
Hit it and hope for the best.

I'll try to remember. I know I kept the damaged light, and I have another - but maybe its just the lens - to replace the crazed right tail. It's been in the 'round to it' list for a long time. There's always a chance I stored those little buggers elsewhere too. Like these things - which I think capped something related to the bumpers.

Can't give that a like! That's not going to be a good day!

Probably doesn't matter which model they were from if they are being spliced in. But OTH some of us would think its cool to have the part tag.

That’s why I bought a 155/80 F-560 as a spare for my car. It has the total same diameter as the the bigger/wider ones on the rest of the car. Also fits nicely in the spare tire well.

I'm going to have it all checked to make sure its all functional. I'd be surprised if it wasn't.
I think it'd look pretty cool in a car I'm working towards the original look.

It’s been one of those weeks where everything is just harder than it needs to be. Kinda like a football game when every time the loose ball bounces, it goes away from you and you can’t quite get to it.

Anyway, I did this one to try to decompress a bit today...
