Yeah, that can work but it seems that for me, the times I let it ride, it didn’t do squat. Hell I took a 70 percent loss in 08/09, never recovered that money. By the time I left the state 5 years later, I’d made maybe 300 bucks back out of the nearly 15k I loss by letting it ride. But everyone’s accounts are different. My wife lets hers ride, she’s up 3% for 2020.

Good Morning All! Lost anvil? Hilarious!
Well 08/09 was a different story, and we moved a lot around for protection.
If I remember we lost 8-10%, and made it back and plus the next couple years.
My only regret that year is that I didn't buy 500-1000 shares of Apple at $80.00.
My son came up yesterday, brakes went metal to metal so we sent him home in the Stinger. Les Schwab did rear rotors calipers and pads while I was at work yesterday, picked it up last night. A little pricey but not bad, glad it didn't have the Brembos...

It's fun, I rely on my buddy who manages my account and after 20 years he's still my buddy.
I tell the wife that when she retires we are really going to start trying to spend all we have managed to save.
That should be fun. Our goal is to only leave what we've decided to the kids.
On that point all my kids have grown up with a great work ethic and all doing well.
That gives you a sense of accomplishment.

I had a buddy that retired, bought a new retirement truck, searched long and hard for an anvil, kinda tough to find a good one used.

I had a small 50 lb one and tell you what they are handy! I just beat the hell out of grand dads vice now!
In 2009 I bought 3000 shares of PRI at IPO. $20 a share... Today at $135 per share...
And for one thats over 60 lbs, $1,200,000.00
I dont understand why people ask so much for a hunk of steel.
My mistake wasnt picking one up 20 years ago before forged in fire caused anvils to go up in price.
No idea they went up that much.
My 40 dollar 6” record vise has been around a long time.
Its one of 4 vises i have. Unless you count my bad habits..
I bought a bench for 40 dollars that included a vice, need to replace that vice someday, works but small and rusty (cue Carl lol).
