For a brand new engine? Seems should be higher.20 psi seems low
Agreed. Just seems low. Especially in gear and running at 55 mph.For a brand new engine? Seems should be higher.
For what it’s worth, my poly is hovering at 45 psi at idle, 60 psi at WOT, but not with a load or in gear, haven’t got that far yetPm Johnny mac
Those shrouds I have are '70 up probably /6. Should be fairly easy to find in the state of paradise by the sea.
The question is how that might fit or be fitted on an early A and whatever radiator is being used.
Here's intact one laying on a '68
Why are you changing water pumps?
The Edlebrock pumps are like that. They supplied fittings, but they were brass fitting for the aluminumn pump. \

Bigger problem was the pump needs to be ground back a bit to fit. Told 'em - sent 'em picks. Bet they never fixed the issue.

Ran hot.
Found out I had 6cyl rad.
Wrong fan and spacer. Bought the correct rad, fan, spacer. Then water pump and pulleys were wrong.
Bought those. Cast iron water pump fits ok. Just need shorter bolts and nipples. Just ordered bolts. Still need nipples. Que karl.
At 55 mph 55 psiAgreed. Just seems low. Especially in gear and running at 55 mph.
I am going for 20W 50. I have always used that weight...
High volume low pressure is best I think. 50 pounds at 55 is g ood to me.At 55 mph 55 psi
Ahhh that’s better. Still seems lowAt 55 mph 55 psi
Last on around two today@Johnny Mac . you here.?
There is some minor difference between '67 and '68-9 radiators and shrouds. It is a mopar rad from 1967 v8. Recoreed 3 row 55 tubes per row. Should do the job. And a high flow pump . it measures 22 wide 19 high
First time on today. Returning pmAt 55 mph 55 psi
Why do you want to paint it?Speaking of oil pumps. What’s the best way to paint one? For the 440. Tape it up?
My recollection is oil pressure warning light comes on at 8 psi. 10 to 15psi is fine at a slow idle and fully heat soaked engine - which 210 on the water temps suggests it is. Tims engine is idling relatively high so more pressure seems ballpark correct to me.20 psi seems low
It’s external and figured since everything else was painted, May as wellWhy do you want to paint it?
Not warm at idle.20 psi seems low
Fan on the car is a 6 blade 17 inch. 20 inch opening seems excessiveThere is some minor difference between '67 and '68-9 radiators and shrouds.
Maybe the shroud mounting holes? But really have no idea. . Maybe ask in cooling what the difference is.
Here's the '68-9 shroud (repro)

The fan opening is about 20"
View attachment 1715779182
Center of the fan opening is about 10" from the passenger side shroud mounting holes

Vertically the rightside mounting holes are about 2 1/4" and 15 3/8" about the bottom line.

The 408 in my 69 vert ran 70 all the time...Not warm at idle.
Under a load yes. But the 50 at 55 for a higher rpm engine seems fine to me.
Agree. First time on today, and said about the same in my PM. 20 at HOT idle is fine with me. 55 at 55 mph is fine with me also.My recollection is oil pressure warning light comes on at 8 psi. 10 to 15psi is fine at a slow idle and fully heat soaked engine - which 210 on the water temps suggests it is. Tims engine is idling relatively high so more pressure seems ballpark correct to me.
If it idled at 70 psi....i would suspect a high pressure spring. The 408 in my 69 vert ran 70 all the time...
