Stop in for a cup of coffee

I am having a hard time getting this retirement thing figured out Craig. Working for the State everyone has an opinion and most of it contradicts. And my assigned retirement counselor has not responded. Says he is busy but will get to me :BangHead::bs_flag:

Hmm... yeah, when I retired from the Army I had a realization that the people around me giving advice had never actually retired themselves so it was theory only.

Benefits counselors had good info.

Being a state job, you should have a public employment handbook that should help

I'm going into the city today.
About 20 years ago, a group of us 3 total. We're going to bid on a large parcel in the city. I mean large. Rather then bid against each other we formed a corporation and grabbed it for 20% of what it would have gone for.
Well someone aggred to rent the ground from us. I well try and get a picture today of what's going up.

Well like other things everyone has an opinion. I'm sure you know someone who retired the last couple years who gave give you some advice. The retirement counselor is an important person to talk to. You need to have a list of questions so that you don't for get one.
In my situation the day of the month or end of the pay quarter was key.
My wife on the other hand same state different retirement system they retire on the first of the month.
Health insurance is important.
Do they or how much sick leave and vacation do they pay out.
You've been working towards this a long time and deserve to have a good understanding of what your going to recieve.

Have you applied for your VA benefits yet?? I did. It took awhile for the paperwork to process, but it was worth the effort.

Never did apply. Figure I've got all my appendages and a good health plan at work. As time goes on I'm pretty sure I hit my head a few hundred times more than is healthy though. I have my theories around that.

A buddy has been encouraging me to do so. Maybe. I have the forms and a complete copy of my med.records

Cold here today. Wishing I was at my other home....

Good Morning everyone. I hope all is well out in coffee land. Some great stories were told overnight I see. Yes MITP is a great event and so many get together. This year more are making the trip with us. A friend is building an altered wheelbase early dart reminiscent of the old ram chargers cars. Crossram 440, 4spd, and straight front axle. Plans to drive that up with us. Dad @Just Ron is looking at putting a 440 together for the Barracuda, possibly a few other cars too. I hope to make it to Carlisle sometime soon.

I would encourage it to. I went in looking for the sleep aid they'd (military) given me. They sent me to the service organizations. I went in the VFW and the guy filled out my application for benefits. I supplied the medical records. I went in over two years for a couple exams and was awarded a disability based on my past injuries. They back paid me to the month/year of my application. I don't use them for medical care. I have tricare and social security for my civilian doctor. I go to the VA for a yearly exam for benefits. At our age though they will deem you permeant and don't have to worry about disability rating deductions. A simple process.

37 degrees as I start my day.
Love the calendar Hoppy, thank you for taking it on again.
Coton crops look good for the farmers this year
