Stop in for a cup of coffee

Glorious morning...

We had one of those dogs next door in CA. To be a dick I would blow a dog whistle on occasion. Now that is funny!

Well our rain is going to be snow today. But the flooding has certainly started. The ground can’t really soak up that much water till the frost line gets moved. Not much happening up here today I may just eat and drink like a pirate today! No chicken feet on the menu that’s for sure!

We need a dog longest stretch I've gone without one. We want to do some traveling soon and don't want the hassles of dog sitters, boarding whatever. We'll get another in a couple years. I know it will be another rescue from the shelter.
Hemi hogged the bed last night, I told her I was trading her in for a gold fish!

I have only gotten muts from the shelters except Harly, she was my daughter's and she had to get rid of her. Still has her brother and niece though...

Yes. It's a commitment for sure.

I switched to rover.com for dog care as opposed to formal kennels. Better environment... more like being at home where she is in a house and roaming a yard versus concrete and chain link.

Out hunting for morel mushrooms yesterday. I found this one it’s called a Turkey tail. After you dry it you make a tea. It’s a bitter tasting tea and has some health values to it. I passed.

The wife has chosen the last 3 dogs (all pugs) so it's my turn. I want a silver lab, a guy at work breeds them so I'm just patiently waiting

If you have turkey tails you likely have some oysters, they are yummy! Same thing only different!

Our neighbor goes down to the lake and gets those, at least she did last year. Used to be able to walk all the way around but some people have put gates/fences across the trail. I might go looking for them between our property and neighbors, good eating and very expensive if you had to buy.

I'm a big dog fan. Arwen is right about 70 pounds... not huge, so I can pick her up and get her into the truck. She can launch from a seated position onto an elevated bed but can't seem to manage getting into the truck on her own.

Hemi was a drop out K9. She did not make the cut, if you like working dogs there is a lot of opportunities to rescue the culls. They make great pets. The Govt will not spend the money to care and feed for them once they are culled. Keep in mind that even the culls are very high energy and exceedingly bright. There is a fundamental reason they were in the program to start with. But they make great dogs!

The old house we had a couple old oaks that produced a big oyster set every year. This is all new ground for me this spring so its been interesting to see what shows up. We got an inch of rain last night so it should pick up in four or five days. A guy told me last fall when he was a kid he and a neighbor took morels by the bag full off my place. I'm waiting.

When I brought home morels and started cooking them up our kids would line up like birds in a nest mouths open begging for more. It was hilarious. I would argue they are the best eating mushroom on the planet.

I've started seeing Ramps being listed locally. Morels aren't far behind
