Stop in for a cup of coffee

Still dark out, the strawberry moon is sure showing off this morning
Watering for one hour now .
We got 1 1/2" of rain a couple hours ago. It was quite a thunderstorm that rolled through. The thunder rattled the windows good.

Don't I see an old jeep in the background?
yes, a 71 jeep two door wagoner, 360 amc 4x4

Yep, it was a big strawberry moon, trees was in the way or I would have gotten a picture

I would take that, it's going to be a terrible hot day again today. Getting gear and supplies ready for Pettit Jean Mt trip, should me a crowd there, we leave tomorrow morning at 4 am, gets me on top of the mountain at 7 thirty.

Whoa.... dust
Fire season as well.
Yep. The fires have already started up. There is big one going down in Flagstaff. We have a small one going in the next county over but they seem to have it mostly under control. The one thing I hate about living on this side of the country.

Wildland firefighter recruiting and retention has really been spotlighted lately. Even at $15 an hour staff shortages are problematic just like everywhere else these days. Not sure if you're tracking that? US Forest Service Chief got beat up in Hill hearings recently.
Hard to answer the questions when you just can't get people to apply.

Willie remember that guy at Hershey I bought a bunch of ballast resistors from? He called me yesterday wants to unload all his Mopar NOS ignition parts on me, great price and delivered to Carlisle!

I have been a little bit. Man firefighting is a tough job. Been a lot of them killed out here over the years. The Storm King Mountain fire here killed 14 of them. The pay isn't nearly enough for what they have to endure. The problem is only going to get worse.

Sounds just like Vietnam....
Your gal would be right at home here. Does it rain often there? Storms or just rain? I don't remember hearing about storm damage or like that. Oh ya, She is so pretty. So classy! No wonder why you have a smile in your face all the time.

Dang it. I need to check this one out. Sounds like my kind of car.

Depends on what kind of rain it is, 1.5 inches in a few hours, or over an entire day makes a difference. There’s an old saying amongst farmers here, if it rains an inch an hour, expect three quarters of it to run off into the rivers

Woah! that lightening was close. It lit up the room. Just a block away I think.

Our average here is around 6.5" of moisture a year including snow melt. I've been out east and seen more than that in one day. If we get an 1/2" in a day here that is considered a good rain.

Once when scuba diving in Lake Powell I found a Stripped Bass that try to swallow a Bluegill head first. The Bluegill was too big and was stuck in the Bass's mouth. The Bass was dead but the Bluegill was still alive. I pulled him out and let him go. Figured he had been through enough hell.
