Eric @71GSSDemon spent the last weekend at the lake with a good friend and his wife. He has a 2020 28-foot Chaparral with the Mercury motor 440 horse all electronic everything. He wonders why when he turns the key it takes four or five seconds for the engine to crank over. He asked the dealer and was told that's just how they are. Is that true?
440hp? inboard I imagine. It sounds right, I believe there is a delay upon key up as the PCM wakes up, fuel pump primes the system, electronic systems check, etc. Our new forklifts even does that (key to "on", then have to wait to crank until the dash gives the ok), then there is a crank time out if it cranks without starting.
