There was an old battery tester, current from the electrolite to the next cell. A noise finder, a long rod with a brass diaphragm that works like an amplifier and a starter current meter. You can Never have enough tools.

Took the Valient out for a short trip to the gas station.
Guy pulls up , nice car, but your Brake lights are on.
Uh ok reach and pull up on pedal. Figured bad switch .Ok. should be an easy fix. Drive from the station hit the turn signal. Smoke starts coming out from the Dash around the ash tray.
Pull over shut it off no more smoke , but no turn signals.
Drive home only about a half mile.
Park, disco battery. Finally get under the Dash.
Positive wire to signal switch is fried,
Brake switch is kind of being held in place WITH A HOSE CLAMP.
Who does that.
Now that's funny.Oh good grief!!!
I know the feeling of "Why would I have to check that????" But yeah, you have to.
You can borrow the OER brake-pedal-holder-upper that was on the car when I bought it.....

Now that's funny.
When I bought this car every time you closed the drives door or hit a bump. It sounded like the Door guts were falling out.
So I pull the door panel.
Then I call the previous owner.
Hey, question are you missing any tools. Response why. Well I took off the drivers door panel and found a ratchet, 3 extensions , a deep socket and a bolt.
This car has the rare tool box in the door option.
He just laughed. Yep I was looking for those tools. Must be when I tried to fix the loose mirror.
Short Hoses Matter! Also noted this short bit of hose that needs replacement as well.

make sure you put a spring in the lower hose to stop it from collapsing.
Now that's funny.

My desert homie's little brother worked at the local Cadillac, GMC, Buick dealer, since he was young and agile he got most of the under dash stuff. They get a new Caddy back on warranty for this knocking noise, service manager gives it to the senior tech who finds nothing, then it goes to the front end specialist and same result, so on and so on. Finally it ends up with little brother "You guys don't find **** so ya give it to me? " He crawls around under the dash nothing, under the seats and more nothing. Finally he gets frustrated and get's in to go for a ride in it, slams the driver's door and "knock" slams the door again "knock". Off comes the door panel and inside he finds a Coke bottle on a string dangling from the door innards. Inside the bottle was a note and the note said "So? How many days did it take you to find this?"
