So today I’m up preparing our thanksgiving feast. We’re doing ours a day early so that we can hit some family dinners tomorrow for the first time in 3 years. And then I have Guard duty this weekend,

Who the heck plans that?

We weren’t supposed too. But a mission came up to support a unit overseas, they needed just a few persons to do it. My CSM called me and asked me personally if I’d be okay with being the NCOIC for it. Given the nature of the mission, I couldn’t say no.
