Stop in for a cup of coffee

Given the input from the Coffee brain trust, and sitting here in my Jammie’s my arm chair analysis is loose connection on wheel speed sensor. Given that the fault code is intermittent and when not lit up, the cruise control works just fine. I will head into town today and hit my local Autozone as per suggestions on here. I fear we are so rural that I may just purchase a scanner if they offer one. Our Autozone is geared towards farming not urban. You guys rock!

With the sophistication now days, even a $200 scan tool can pay for itself with one issue. My SES light came on and it was a Vapor canister code. With the code, you can get on the net and read for days about things to check before just throwing parts at it. The Vapor canister vent solenoid I ordered yesterday was recommended on a Chevy Colorado website and it was $35 v/s $130 for the same part at the GM dealer.

So a technical question to all you that work on modern cars. @Tooljunkie @MOPARMITCH @toolmanmike and any of you others that are knowledgeable on modern diagnostics. My 2015 scat pack 6.4 Challenger is throwing a ABS service fault code. The car drives fine and brakes hard fine but the fault will not allow me to set the cruise control. And the code does not always appear, sometimes there sometimes not. I can literally shut off engine with it on and restart and it is gone? We are getting ready to drive it up to Cleveland for boys wedding and cruise control sure does help. Can I simply disconnect battery for a hard electronic reset? Or is that naive?
Is that just on a pop up message? Doesn't that have se;f diagnostic to give code numbers?

@Sublime one found this on a forum...

"On my 2015 SRT, you can scroll in the Dash EVIC to option 9: Diagnostics on the display and it'll display codes. I think the Scat Pack would be the same."

K...Argon tank refilled... $66 not bad compared to most things now... hope to get my LCAs welded up tonight

Correct it just says to service ABS does not give me any kind of code or reference. I had not even thought about the onboard diagnostics as it can literally tell me how many Gs I pull in corners on which wheel HP etc. Duh! I am a moron!

I know Mopars have had self read for a while. Would be very surprized if it couldn't. My 05 Magnum and even the 03 Neon could give me the codes. I think I have done it on the Journey as well.

You are a smart guy. This stuff is out of my wheelhouse. I worked at the Buick/GMC dealer for a dozen years when computers on cars first showed up. They got smart quick and I was lucky to keep up with the tech during my 28 years on the tool truck. I'm still a moron! :BangHead: :BangHead:

My Jeep does that, the sensor connector plug gets loose over time

You need a DTRB scanner to read the ABS module and reset it. Those scanners are north of 5k so it’s better to pay the 150 bucks to have your local dealer read it

Yea but I’m most Chrysler products, you can’t read the ABS, Transmodule or other standalone modules without the DTRB style programmer. And those are very expensive

Exactly. The cheaper scanners just read OBDII codes. Manufacturer specific codes do require a more sophisticated scanner. The scan tool companies either pay the manufacturers for the information or like Snap On did it, reverse engineer the info from factory scanners.  Frickin thieves!

Morning, storm went thru yesterday and dropped marble size hail and a down pour. Ground was nearly white. It came and went quickly so not much moisture. We need it badly here
Here !! Sending ours to you, Pete , we had enough.
Prepping to hang and get her lit up.

Morning fellers, raining here again, this is not normal. Walked the dogs and fed the horses and the rain kept the skeeters at bay.
finished with breakfast and now having my coffee.
