12 volt and no ballast would be nice. HEI has a longer dwell too correct?
Yes and a ton of different modules you can use. Tell you what it definitely gives a hotter spark than a black ECU. That one is just a replacement one I used.

Mike, this is the header i was talking bout.. that cut pipe was bout 1.5" higher and went right where the starter was.. i have some tubing on order to finish it. Now i know how a guy had like 5 sets of nos dougs headers from the 70s for sale.... no one could ever use them. Got em cheap at least :)

On the downside i turned my power steering box by hand and it feels like it's grinding marbles :( I swear.. every part of this car is ****. It's gonna have to do for now, will find one if it's too bad.

Yeah.. Only thing is, ya probably have to pull the Dist. to get to the attaching screws underneath....When/If it needs replaced....
Yes, you do. Some don't want it seen. I have done a few dozen of them in the last few years. Firewall mounted you don't need to do anything to a electronic distributor. Nice thing about it really is most parts stores still have them. I keep the brackets in stock.

Flush it and adjust it.

Flush it and adjust it.
yeah.. i loosened the adjuster and it got much better, it was way tight, it would actually move OK til center then i had to hit the pitman to get it to move more, betting it has rust from sitting all those decades.. hoping fresh fluid will help

Am I missing something? All I see is a black screen and empty road

I have a bunch. The accell ones run from a friend of mine raced with them and had 4 go bad in one year. The petronix one is really hot, have a bunch of NOS GM also. That tester I have does them also.

On the GM's you could change them right in the car without removing or disturbing the Dist....

I remember doing a bunch of them. I need to get a real GM pigtail with the condeser and see if there is an difference in output or is that just a noise suppressor? No idea.

You also needed a special short hand held tool to remove the original screws in some of them..Odd size...5.5 mm. I still have one ....KKKKKK

Just be aware that a GM HEI in a B/RB engine will work with stock heads, but may cause interference with aftermarket [ alum ] heads.

I have used heaps of Chinese HEIs over the years in different engines. Only one has 'failed', owner claims it was the coil, but I never saw it to verify it. I strip these dists to modify the centri curve. They are all well made, tight clearances, parts are lubricated. Centri weights, centre plate are chromed, originals were not.
