Stop in for a cup of coffee

I go in this afternoon to get the remaining stiches removed from my eye lid. They've been in three weeks so I imagine there will be some digging involved getting them out.
I broke my thumb with a double-jack installing a hinge pin on a Cat loader. I knew it was messed up pretty good but I kept working. Wife freaked when I got home  she was medically trained. Besides being broken it had 2 1" long ruptures in the flesh requiring stitches. When the ER doctor is done he says "I want you to soak this in hydrogen peroxide for 15 minutes every day." " Should I be worried about an infection?" I ask. "You'll see when you come back next week to get those stitches out." I should add every nurse in the place came in and took my thumb out of the cleaning solution to get a look at it . I go to get the stitches out a week later. Doc unwraps my thumb, checks it out we start talking some unrelated topic, few minutes later "Well? Did ya feel that?" "Feel what?" "Feel me takin' those stitches out?" I didn't even know he had started taking them out, let alone know he was done :realcrazy:. "That's why you soaked those in peroxide everyday. Peroxide eats the scabs that form over the stitches." " :thankyou: Doctor. I never felt a thing." Funny, every other time I've had sutures, first thing Dr says "Don't get them wet!" :realcrazy:

It's Mercury Monday!

Mike @toolmanmike went to a buddy's yesterday to watch the game. He had a wide variety of whiskey/bourbon in the cabinet. I take those opportunities now to try something different. We opened a bottle of Reunion which for some new like me to the hobby is a rye whiskey. It was great stuff might just be a rye whiskey drinker.

Perty
Always been kinda leery of 9mm due to a story a CHP officer told me about a shootout a local patrolman had with a perp on I 15 right after the CHP began carrying the 9s.

Good to have you back in one piece!
Thanks, I should of done this a couple years ago. I can see a whole lot better especially driving at night. My wife says I look 10 years younger, and I just laugh. If she's happy I'm blessed. LOL!!

Thats not good! I've always been worried about a more powerful round for home defense incase it doesn't stay within these 4 walls, but all my 9's are a higher grain and hollow point.

Happened a couple years ago in New York City. Guy was hit over a dozen times by officers 9mm and didn’t go down.

When in doubt, 12 ga 00 HD rounds, low brass, they have a reduced load to prevent over penetration. But still have the knock down power

Cyber Monday. I don't think I will buy anything today. I don't have any idea what anyone may want.
Speaking of which, what's on your secret santa list? I like anything bourbon or rye (especially rye) Something you can get that I can't. (that narrows it down doesn't it. LOL) I wear a 2xl t shirt just in case. I have asked for a donation to Toys For Tots or the like. It makes me smile knowing I (we) helped someone in need.

I have a keltec bullpup with 25 shorty turkey shot rounds too. All the kings horses and all the kings men won't put them back together again. The 9's are for concealed carry.

Who you directing that too haha

Speaking of someone in need Leean at Phoenix Coating is very much in need of work. As many of us know, she always stepped up when we did fund raisers for needy FABO members, now is our turn to pitch in and send her any work we can.

Anymore, I’ve been carrying a G42 in 380. I also pack the mag with 380 +P, so I get near the velocity of the 9mm . I switched from my daily carry weapon being my M&P 9mm to the G42 simply cause it fits in my pocket (in a holster designed for such) and I have a holster that looks like a cell phone case that it fits in as well. Figured for a defensive posture, it works.

Now when I go on vacation or to the big cities, or even a road trip, I roll heavy, both above pistols plus either my trusty Maverick 12 ga police model or my AR and a full combat load(depending on location and the local laws)

Few years ago, we got caught in Myrtle beach during the George Floyd rights. We left the morning after the first one and I’d grabbed my AR and such, now it’s become a habit for long term road trips for that very reason
