if you guys need something to watch with your coffee.. here is the worlds greatest mopar engine builder having a bad day.

Poor Quality Assurance with that piston supplier, bummer. I was in a Mopar Resto shop in Olympia, shop owner showed me a customer supplied small block with all pistons installed "backwards", didn't know you could do that, different than what Nick was dealing with but made me think about it

Rain. Switching to snow. Yup, its going to snow. South, like Fred may get as much as 18” according to the forecast. Theres a long ridge that seems to turn the weather, quite often we dont get the snow as forecasted.
Guess im going to try and get the bed floor support done today, move on to fitting the wheel opening patch.

pistons have a slight offset on the pin hole to help with noise/slap... someone started like 40 years ago saying if you put them in backwards they have less drag and more power!!! It's BS.. and when they do it with only 2 valve reliefs it makes for fun times :)
 
Speaking of... I need to find a 360 block soon... this 318 isn't happy. I really shoulda put in a big block when i started :( If i didn't have the trick flows i would do it now since i have a spare BB trans

Yeah.. i watch FBMP and 360s that are junk are going for more than running 440s.. it's insane.. i have a knocking noise that MIGHT be the alternator.. haven't looked too far into it yet.. pulling the dist to recurve it tonight, also wanna take a look at the bronze intermediate gear to see how it's doing.. I should grab another 318 block and 390 is before pulling mine.. i know my block is good though, sooo... no idea what to do. Hate to take the car apart with 30 miles on it :)
 
That sucks. Seriously add up the rebuild prices then compare with Blueprint, Cant beat their guarantee!
They don't do shortblocks due to people messing them up, only full motors.. it's no biggy.. i'm just lazy.. this motor was always a temp motor anyway.. i paid $300 for the engine, unknown miles/condition and threw a top end on it. didn't even look at bearings.. just wanted to get the car movable so i can work out **** then redo the motor, which is where i am :)

I didn't know that. At my age I better stop buying and start selling
 
I went BB and really kind of regret it expensive, tight fit etc. Do it again a LA! What springs you putting in the dist for a curve?

No problem, you deal with a ton of people... i just found it funny since we talked on the phone bout it the other day.
Phone starts here around 0400 every day from overseas, then till around 0900 I just bail. Really becomes a blur!

haha will see... it hums along at 3000 all day, just at idle i near the noise. doesn't sound like a full rod and it's front passenger side where the alt is (area).. will figure it out. still have 60psi at idle..

yeah i'm the same way.. and i forget people 40 seconds after they are out of my face... people come in and are like "Hi!, you know me... you talked to me for 30 seconds 8 years ago!".. ummm... sure...
 
Then the Idiot e mail I deal with. They are hard not to get stupid back to but I realize they are trying to learn.

Broomstick stethoscope will tell you where. Maybe just something simple.
