Stop in for a cup of coffee

1971 mopar Plymouth fury 3

Going by myself tomorrow, unless somebody else buys it, more than likely I will, provided I don't find any deal-breakers upon inspecting it. The owner feels confident it will make the 5 hr drive home. I'll drive it a bit then shut it down and look for any concerns.

I've gathered some wrenches, rags, a jug of coolant, trans fluid, quart of oil, hose clamps, duct tape, tow rope, a moving blanket in case I have to get under it. My insurance does have roadside assistance if I need a tow.

I'd appreciate any other suggestions for what to bring along....thanks.
AWESOME!!!

plates - as in license plates - not sure how it is there, but here you can use your plates off your current car when first purchasing a "new" vehicle

Oh yeah, bring brake fluid. If you blow a wheel cylinder at least you'll be able to keep driving the car and have 3 of 4 brakes working.

Ask me how I know about old Mopars that have been sitting suddenly blowing wheel cylinders when you start really driving them again.

I lost 3 of 4 in a sudden slam-on-the-brakes moment at 70 mph on the highway once. Only that last wheel cylinder, the e-brake and sliding the side of the car 30' down the concrete dividing wall kept me from plowing into the stopped traffic.

David, just check it over real good. Drive it till it gets up to temp, then shut it down for few, look for leaks then restart and check again. Again pics or it didn't happen.

why do so many threads on FABO say "view ignored content" on the bottom of the pages??

like what is that supposed to mean, is it about the ads we can ignore as Gold members ??

Just a guess, they prob have posts by somebody on your ignore list? Never seen that and I don't have anyone 'ignored'.

Thanks guys you're very helpful. Charging up the camera batteries now & making a list.

I'm not working my *** off and putting up with b.s. just to sit on the sidelines and reminisce about Mopars. Furys have always been my signature car, never owned a Fuselage bodystyle but I've always wanted one, they have a special floating ride unlike any other car!

its so exciting to go on a road trip to look at a car ....I want to go ...SHOTGUN!!!

look at the firewall real close ...those fuseys tend to rust where the water collects through the vent in front of the windshield.

There is a drain but the drain plugs with crap over the years. Even my 70 sport fury had that problem and this was a dry Colorado car. Only rust on the whole car but it seems to be a fairly common problem. some are worse than others, but something to be aware of. Unless it was garaged most of it's life or extremely lucky.....

oh - so now we're playing hotter/colder too... "mud room" between house and garage?
I'm gonna guess sound deadening for the 'play room'...
Bzzzt. I'm sorry, those answers are incorrect.

The answer is "Garage door insulation"!

I got R3 foil lined bubble core in the exact width to be installed in the door without any adhesives or fasteners, just tuck into the door channels. 50' roll is about $50. The lined panels are now 31° F cooler than the unlined ones with the door facing the blazing sun on a 97° day.

I hope you get it. Looks like a great ride. Make a list of 'stops' along the way so if something does take a crap uou know which towns are near so you could get towed/parts...
I hate not knowing whats around when i need help..

And check for fabo members along your route. Incredible asset..
