Stop in for a cup of coffee

Good morning Mike and Keith, 61 degrees this morning, I bet my trail cam is getting some good picture in the last three day !

I got a trifecta yesterday in my neighbor's yard...

These were a little more shy than the usual ones and watched me while I was taking pictures. Then ran after a few minutes...

A mamma and two kids...

Fill it up...

We have plenty of squirrels around here... At least 4 regulars in my front yard, and two or three in the back... My dog loves to chase them... He's too fat and slow to catch one, but it's good exercise for him to try...

We have only two kinds of poisonous snakes around here, Timber Rattlers and Water Mocasins... My dad said that he's seen only two Timber Rattlers in his life... Luckily, I haven't seen either one - and don't want to... I wonder if the squirrels keep them away after seeing the videos of the squirrels chasing the snakes away... It's ok by me if they keep the poisonous ones off my property... I could live without seeing one.... (Get the pun....)

The chip monks are getting out of control and need to be thinned... Quick little f*ckers....

Hey, did anyone here ever order from Auto Parts Canada Online | TheWrenchMonkey Canada ? Or the US version?

Oh, and good morning, Karl! Nice buckshots. (Yes, I know most of them were doe.)

Hi Anders...

Yeah, I typically get pictures of the females... Or males with out the rack... I don't dare try to get too close to one with a rack - I don't want to be a shish-ka-bob.... Last thing I need is one to charge me while I'm trying to get a picture.... I keep my distance from the ones with the racks... But I see mostly the females or young ones... Once in a while we will see a buck between 6 -10 points... Usually 6 -8 if we do catch a glimpse, the 10 pointers are more rare....

He's got a rally in building next to where I work tomorrow.

We have a 72 Challenger Rally in our front garage... 3rd owners with just under 100 k on the odometer... Does that count???

Yes ! Squirrels will chase them off becouse they eat there babbies, I have about 20 in my yard, I feed them corn and fatten them up .. Yep ! I get the pun

Why would anyone keep squirrel in the freezer? As bait? Or do you guys actually eat them?
Oh Lord yes!! they are very good ! I stay away from processed meat/protein, laugh if you will  but they go great with dumplings and I have learned just of late they make great meat for chilly. Straight from gods grocery store  Google it some time.

Maybe they're a different kind than the one we have over here. As far as I've heard the red squirrel we have is edible but tastes terrible. And there's hardly any meat on them.

I totally understand why you try to avoid processed meats.

I feed mine also...

I don't have a garbage disposal in my sink... This house has never had one.. The plumber says it makes the drains clog easier...

I just throw my old food in the front yard, and something will eat it... There are two shifts - day and night... Day shift is the squirrels and chip monks... Night shift is the raccoons, deer, and coyotes... Whatever the day shift leaves, the night shift usually will get by morning, if not the next day... It won't sit more than two days before it's all gone... Sometimes I put out alot and I think they either get full, or spooked away by a predator, then come back the next night to see if there is any more left... What is too old/spoiled for the dog to eat, I throw out in the yard...

I have the dog trained not to eat the food in the front yard... But I think that he's figured out that having the food out there is like chumming the water and attracts the critters... He usually asks to go out more often when I put the food out for them because as soon as he goes out, he runs to the edge of the porch and goes full alert and looks for something to chase... Then will give a little "squirt" to give me the illusion that he's going out to go to the bathroom, and not play me so he can chase something... I know sometimes he asks to go out so he can look for something to chase... I give him a hard time when he "plays me" and asks to go out, only so he can chase something and doesn't have to use the bathroom... He will try to pull that every 15 - 30 minutes if I let him manipulate me... Sometimes I tell him that he can't go out because he just went a little while ago - I'm on to his games...

But he's good about asking to go out to go to the bathroom... He will even ask in middle of the night... There are only two things that he will get out of bed for in middle of the night - food and emergency bathroom. If it's not an emergency, he will hold it until morning (sun-up)... If he has to go real bad, he will bark at me until I get out of bed and run to the door to ask to go out... As soon as he gets out the door, he gets right to business... That's how I know he really had to go - when he doesn't have to go too bad, he looks for something to chase, then does business if no "customers"... My dog rarely has an accident in the house...

Aboot time! I actually lived in Ottawa for a year when I was 14-15. Canada IS nice.

Order is away! Let's hope they weren't bluffing when they said they have it in stock.

Yep, "Out and about" in Canadian sounds like "Oat in a boat".... :D

And they use the hard "o" in 'process' instead of the soft "o"... 'prOcess'....

Red squirrel ! yuck ! I agree, I have been told all my life they are not the best to eat so I stay away from them, I eat Gray squirrel, it takes about 6 to make a gallon of squirrel and dumplins, I cook them in a crock pot with no seasoning for about 4 hours on med, the house smells like I am cooking pork in a crock pot.. Gray lives mater to me becouse they are tasty, Red lives do to but I don't shoot them
