Red squirrel ! yuck ! I agree, I have been told all my life they are not the best to eat so I stay away from them, I eat Gray squirrel, it takes about 6 to make a gallon of squirrel and dumplins, I cook them in a crock pot with no seasoning for about 4 hours on med, the house smells like I am cooking pork in a crock pot.. Gray lives mater to me becouse they are tasty, Red lives do to but I don't shoot them
Now that I think aboot it, the grey ones are quite a bit larger, aren't they? We saw a few in Florida last February.

I've seen three colors of squirrel in Michigan.. By Lansing they have some black ones, in Detroit they are ether gray or brown...

The ones by me are gray to blend in with the bark of the trees...

That's where they throw raw bloody meat in the water when they fish for sharks... The smell of the blood attracts the sharks to the boat so they can catch them on a line...
I figured that was what it was. I'd just never heard the term. And why would I have ...

There are a few differant reds, some are small and yet the red fox squirrel is bigger then the Gray's, yes , Grays do get large  I prefer the yearlings over the larger older males.. oh lord !! @krazykuda will have a ball with this post :elmer:

Oh Lord yes!! they are very good ! I stay away from processed meat/protein, laugh if you will  but they go great with dumplings and I have learned just of late they make great meat for chilly. Straight from gods grocery store  Google it some time.

I ate chili with rattlesnake meat once when I visited Phoenix...

I felt like biting something a little later....

happy hump day
