Stop in for a cup of coffee

Hey Mike, I'm doing ok, at least I think so! My Dad's family going back as far as we know didn't express their emotions, they just soldiered on through the great depression and even with my Dad being the first college graduate I don't think they made a fuss about that. All my siblings get along, besides my sister and me, our two sisters my Dad adopted and our brother from his second marriage. Dad didn't have any money so that eliminates the main thing children fight about. The gathering at the airport Dec 4 is coming together, it will be a celebration with food and music.

Wow what a bad name for a feminist group/band.

for some reason I feel like I remember you saying you are Swedish...?? Many cultures are well known for being stoic when it comes to grief (and most emotional responses) -- and those that weren't "that way" learned it to some degree during the depression.. I have dealt with many "older folks" who seem unemotional - it is their coping mechanism.

No Swedish, but German, rumor has it descended from a Hessian brought over to fight then served a sentence as an indentured servant. My great-great Grandpa was a cabinet maker who abandoned his family. Lots of alcoholism and wife-beating stories. No wonder my Dad moved away from Western New York to Florida to raise his family!

speaking of that - the wife left you home for the long weekend? refused to go to the in-laws did ya?
No In-laws left. She's seeing kids and grandkids. They'll all be here at Christmas. Once a year is plenty of that crap for me.

And I doubt her boyfriend wanted me tagging along!!!

Dad was a bright engineer, fresh out of college, he had a job opportunity in Sarasota in 1960. To my Mom and him, at that time, it was like paradise compared to the cold north. With the space program and the warm climate, I don't think it had such a bad reputation then. My grandparents moved down too and they loved it. The alcoholics and wife beaters stayed up north lol.

ah ok - you can see how that could have been interpreted either way...

feminists are crazy and should be sent up to a looney bin.

they try to recruit new people in college and some of their ideas are not even right. I think it's disrespectful. I am all for equal opportunity, but there is a fine line between equal opportunity and entitlement in this society.

They just cant accept that men can do some things women cant and vice versa. Besides, mancakes are better to look at than a bunch of girls trying to blame the world for their miserable existence.
