I'll trade you. Started seeing a bunch of vehicles with radar on the back and bunch of other antennas with signs saying storm chaser. So I talked to one of them at the shell this morning, my area is in a high enhanced zone for severe tornadic super cells today. Last two times this area was in such, we had an f4 and two f3s
uhh... pass

humm... if I am 95% sure I don't want metal - why bother?
Definatly have advantages, usually less expensive, most have a 50 year warrantee, hell the old one that came off of this place the guy said was from the turn of the century, They have great styles now, no storm damage, etc.....Just take a look at them.

I understand they can go right over what is currently there too - no need to remove the old stuff

We have been looking at something like this. It looks like tho original clay tile roof on our house.
Roof in Spanish style for a unique Mediterranean look | Erie Metal Roofs
word of advice, DO NOT do this in a snowy/sub-zero region. I have a friend who has to replace some of the tiles here in Indiana every single year. They'll crack in sub-zero temps and leak like a sieve. They're best suited for warmer, moister climates. I'm not sure how your winters are in Iowa normally, but we routinely get around zero a few times a year and sometimes colder.

the house im building will have a metal roof for sure. our barn was from 1901 and we just now replaced the roof and it wasn't due to the metal leak, but the wind had finally started to rip the nails from the rafters and thus causing leaks.
