Want something that dries out fast. If they rust it will suck, there is plenty of appliance paint on them but to make sure.

I would think that drawer material would be too thin to protect the deck

It is that stuff they make also for opening twist tops, Just a cushion really do not plan on moving it around weighs prob 300 lb.

agreed, it tears very easily, What I'd do is go to your local home improvement store, get you a piece of scrap vinyl flooring and use it
