Check it with a ohm meter first then if you get low ohms ground one side, lick the center and hit the other side on +12vdc you will feel I mean see a spark if it is good! Actually just a plug wire to a ground is good!

Usually coils that are stored do not go bad its when cycled a billion times in extremes that hurts them, they can get weak though if any fluid came out, IE evaporated but there is usually a stain on them. Basically they are just a capacitor that stores high energy till sudden discharged.

hum.. so lets say for arguments sake that it is good to go - you think it's worth anything? I am thinking it's a fairly rare piece at this point - maybe to someone doing a full on resto..??
