Was thinking about that............
I was wondering if that would work... Is that how they re-arch leaf springs? No, you bend them back and hold them there while you go through the annealing process which resets them in the new position.
The loss of strength is related to the number of cycles they have been put through (opening and closing the deck lid). An OEM one sitting on the shelf will be just as strong today as it was when manufactured.Strangely not all of them have lost there strength. You WOULD think since they were all built at the same time they would all be in the same condition...
Yes but how do you get the thing into a drum of oil while it is red hot, without it bending in the process? No, you bend them back and hold them there while you go through the annealing process which resets them in the new position.
Very carefully.Yes but how do you get the thing into a drum of oil while it is red hot, without it bending in the process?
Sure a unused would be like new. what I would not give for a NOS set!The loss of strength is related to the number of cycles they have been put through (opening and closing the deck lid). An OEM one sitting on the shelf will be just as strong today as it was when manufactured.
Just like a rubber band, the more times you stretch it and relax it, the weaker it becomes.
veeeeery carefully....Yes but how do you get the thing into a drum of oil while it is red hot, without it bending in the process?
DAH!!! that's f**ked up ^^Very carefully.
Yes and no. It can be done by heat process with annealing, but most of the time they use a cold process.I was wondering if that would work... Is that how they re-arch leaf springs?
You are thinking vertically rather than horizontally. Lay it into a trough using a support frame.Yes but how do you get the thing into a drum of oil while it is red hot, without it bending in the process?
Have to be steel support frame. But it could work..You are thinking vertically rather than horizontally. Lay it into a trough using a support frame.
Here you go, Barracuda in touchup paint, wet sanding and final buffing and polish.Pics???
