hmm interesting. My advice. buy a plane ticket, take a day off work, fly up there, pay in cash, drive home
I hear yeah but I'm kind of the site unseen kind a guy that has nothing to do with the condition of the car I'm talking about sending him the money and him not letting me buy it

i know. but im simply saying if it was me and I wanted that thing as bad as you and the seller was acting like that, but I still really wanted the car, that's what I'd do. I really hope this ends well for you.

So the guy Mark I'm supposed to be buying the 68 formula S car from says he wants to make a separate checking account so that I can wire him the money so it's like he doesn't trust me I feel like it's going to prolong the progress I should've already sent the money already ordered the truck.
And it also makes me think can I trust him?

Good idea Chris...

But it's not good to travel across the country with that much cash... He's in NY and the car is in OR - he's going across the country...

Get a certified check from a national bank that has locations in both areas so the seller can go cash it at the same bank that the buyer deposited it in...

Or would just open an account at the national bank in my name and have the deposit free and clear for the date of the sale... Alert the local bank manager there before hand that you are buying a car and will need to take out that much cash so they can have it available...

Fly out there, inspect the car, draw up the sale papers, have verified clean title, go to the bank, buyer withdraws the cash, seller receives the cash and sale papers completed and signed with the witness of the bank.... Some banks offer notary if necessary...

I would be more comfortable with the money in his name (the buyer) with access at a bank local to the seller than trying to travel across the country with that kind of cash... Just do a search on youtube on TSA agents caught stealing cash out of baggage and you will see what I mean... That way if he decides not to buy it, he has the option to back out and the seller can't mess with his money... If the account is put in the seller's name, what if he refuses to refund the money???

Then he can drive it to the shipping company and they take possession of it until it arrives back at his place and he takes possession... The seller is now done with the deal and the buyer good to go...

I'm in Tucson
It should be a simple process the guy shouldn't have to make a special bank account for me to deposit money if he's that worried about it he shouldn't be selling it I don't get it I bought a few cars over the years.
and met no one like him as far as being nervous like that.

We did the 'sight unseen' thing over the internet once... Just once...

Never again...

It was ok, but not as good as the seller claimed...

Always inspect the car in person, wiggle all the knobs, flick all the switches, caress all the sheet metal, drive it and listen for any strange noises, does it pull, does it ride nice or need suspension work... Always pop the hood to inspect the engine before starting it, feel the radiator on the sly as you bend over to inspect the engine - check the oil and see if the seller warmed it up before you came... could be hiding a hard cold start issue...

Some sellers won't tell you everything wrong with it, it's your responsibility to know what you are getting...

Why does your avatar say LongIsland??? I assumed NY...

Tucson is still a far away from there..

However you accomplish it, I would go in person and hand over cash after inspecting the car and title...

That could be part of what is making the seller jumpy

Good luck. I hope the deal goes through for you if that car is as nice in person as it looks in the pictures that's a solid car...

A 68 4 speed with factory A/C...

Does that still have the factory cam in it??? Save that puppy... That's a one year only cam just for the 4 speed 340 in 68....

Ok time for a bike ride, brisk walk on the beach (NO running this time!) Been really careful this week with eating habits and tomorrow is week 3 weigh-in.

I need to get my 66 out of the body shop. If I would sell it and my Swinger I could afford one. A 64 Dodge is a dream. I would like it to be my last Mopar before I get too old.
