That's a great distributor, The prestolights do not use them at least I never saw one with it yet. I actually have a couple of nos caps and points for that one, prob the condenser also.
Great!! Put a set aside for me...
Let me tell you a little about this distributor...
When we first got the 'bird back in '81 that thing would fly... We would "take the bird for a walk" which meant going on Rt-83 near our current house and waiting for a long break in traffic... Then turn before the traffic came and when the traffic would come up on us, dad would punch it from like 40 MPH and you would feel the "triple kick" of the six pack and auto ...
First you get pinned back from going WOT on the center carb... Then the next instant the trans kicked down and you felt another kick... Then the outboard carbs kicked in and you were pinned back in the seat and we were f*ckin' gone...
We would watch the cars behind us fade away in the back window then look down at the speedo and it would be on 90 MPH as we let off the gas...

Then a few years later, I'm cruising at Duke's Drive in and get talking to a guy... When I tell him that we have an orange Superbird, he asks where we got it from... He then told me a story about an orange Superbird that he used to see around that town...
One day he was at a red light and an orange Superbird (good chance it was ours - as there aren't too many of them around here) was lined up next to a 68/69 Camaro with dual quads sticking out of the hood... He said that as soon as the light turned green, the Superbird took off and was all the way through the intersection before the Camaro was halfway through it... Just walked away from him....

Then after a while it started getting too much advance and was pinging, so dad replaced the distributor with a mechanical advance Mallory... However, the Mallory does not run as good as the old dual point...
I don't know if the original owner recurved it, or if it ran that good stock... But I'm not happy with the Mallory unit and would like to get the dual point checked out so I can drop it in and get it running again...With your machine you can check out everything and make sure the curve and dwell are set properly and ready to go...
It would be nice to get the bird fired up and take the kids for a ride so they can experience the triple kick of the 440 six pack auto from a roll....
The bird hasn't been out since my kids were born... and the oldest just turned 26 yesterday....
