Stop in for a cup of coffee

best "kill da Rocky" one I have is the time I shot one with a pellet gun - thought I got him and he'd died.. well half way through the day the wife calls me at work and tells me there's a squirrel hobbling it's way down our back yard and she was sure it was making for the shade of the deck. Of course we don't want it getting under there and dying.. and I'm too far away to do anything about it. So she goes out there and drops a tin bucket on top of it - temps were in the mid 80's that day - - it was cooked dead by the time I got home

ya really can't get rid of the GDed things though - - maybe three weeks w/o them around if you get serious about shooting every one you see and then another pair moves in...

Think about it...Squirrels are attracted to nuts! If you would move your wives wouldn't have a problem with squirrels.

As part of our box trapping back in high school, I started trapping the squirrels at my parents house and spray painting them different colors and then releasing them. I learned quickly that we didn't have just 2 or 3 squirrels around, but more like 20-30. While you only see a few at any given time, they aren't the same 2 or 3 you see each time. After that, I started counting tree nests in the late fall and realized that there were probably a few hundred in our neighborhood alone.

They really are just rats that have pretty tails and live in the trees. For every one you see, there are another 30 that you don't see.

Another quick squirrel story for me.... I was grouse hunting and spent the day walking the woods. Well not a single grouse was shot and I was really wanting to shoot something. I finally saw a squirrel sitting on a branch about 5' up in a pine tree. It was also about 20' away. So I pulled up, took aim and shot.. The squirrel didnt move, I was thinking how the hell did I miss that with bird shot. So I started walking closer to the squirrel and it wasnt until I was about 6-7' way from it I could see I blew the top of its head clean off. The shot made the squirrel clench down on the tree and I had to pry it off the branch... I never seen anything like that before...

Out of his cold dead hands...

Today's 12 hour day went 14 hrs. Tomorrow's 12 hr day has spread into the weekend so that I will need to put in another 8 hrs between Saturday and Sunday to be ready for Monday.

All told, it looks like it will total at least a 74 hour work week with no break before the next one starts. I just hope I survive all this to actually get to retirement...
