Stop in for a cup of coffee

Ahhhh I see says the blind man. I went back a page and figured out what you were talking about. Makes sense now.

Hows the GTS going?

Got some time this week for that. Did you ever replace the stabilizer to frame bushings on an A body? Trying to install poly bushings in the triangle shape bracket while on the bar. Trying to figure the best way. They seem impossible to squeeze in there. Must be a trick someone knows about.

THe replacement poly bushings are not split to help get them in. The frame brackets are welded closed from the factory. Had to drill relief holes in the old bushings and pry them out.

Also take them both off and do them at the same time so the bar moves, Think that is what I did, also there are two diff sizes.

I boiled them, they were a pain. Took about three beers each to get in.

Were they poly. Did you install all at the same time while on the bar. Or did you get the bushings in the brackets and then push on from the end of the sway bar end that is larger because of the end link holes?

They are prothane poly, I know I boiled them then gave up trying to get them over the ends and I believe I split the back side with a razor, they tighten up in the bracket when installed. Seemed to work well.

That was 2-3 years ago....I changed all the bushings to poly but left the body bushings alone, they looked ok.

At first I ordered the wrong size 7/8 and had to get the 1 1/8 I think. Then I found FABO!

Can you boil them and squeeze them to oblong the hole to get them over the eyes? Then lube the crap out of the bar to slide them into place?

Looking at that storm in Mexico, Bet Ben Drinking is getting a lot of rain!

Gonna make another run at it today. It is all off the car, so maybe I can rig it up in my arbor press somehow. The other day I made a couple of steel plates to try C clamps to get the bushings in the brackets. Was too awkward, Din't work. Today I'm gonna try to press the bushings into the stock brackets and then , force them over the end of the bar.

I would get them over the bar then into the brackets, so they can flex, but I am not there.
