Just got in the shop is still there mostly. Like Keith said weird *** problem. Could be the ecu just weird.
I checked them all, still no idea but a spare ecu is not a bad idea to have in the trunk.Only say this once. Most all car electrical problems are a bad ground.
On older cars.
.
Well you would know.I checked them all, still no idea but a spare ecu is not a bad idea to have in the trunk.
Inner fender needs a good ground too.Well you would know.
Besides I'm far from grounded.
Hey maybe that's my problem.
NAAAAA.
Fender to battery negative/rad support. Can never be grounded too much. All grounds were good to the firewall, more I think about it the ecu is probably the issue. Just a strange one because it really is intermittent.
I’ve had it happen before with the ECU, one minute fine...the next no start or rough running...then fine again. All grounds were good to the firewall, more I think about it the ecu is probably the issue. Just a strange one because it really is intermittent.
Well, it's welded in. Connected to radiator support. Battery ground goes to both block and radiator support..Inner fender needs a good ground too.
Nope. I will get a spare ECU sometime soon, but with all the testing between yesterday and today I am quite confident it is good today. No bets on tomorrow. LOLI’ve had it happen before with the ECU, one minute fine...the next no start or rough running...then fine again.
When they get wonky like that it’s mostly related to temperature. Did you guys move the car indoors and warm it up?
I checked it also it was perfect to the firewall ground strap on the other side.Well, it's welded in. Connected to radiator support. Battery ground goes to both block and radiator support..
I originally did not have good ground and no start when I put that ecu in new after painting the bay. I had removed a little paint and it fired right up. 5 minutes ago I added a star washer under one side of it to give a little extra bite. So at this point I am confident that there is N.F.Way that it ain't grounded.
Started a few more times and Took it down the road again after you left. Zero problems. Here is where it is strange distrib out turn it and good spark when on and also cranking, put it back in no good. Just made no sense did it numerous times. I was thinking during a load cranking but same good spark just when either was in no spark. Should not need a dist ground with a pickup but grounded it out also no change. Just a weird one. Got it just no idea of the cause told keefer to drive it close to home for a while (within free towing area) and see if it does it again if it does then I would prob throw a ecu at it.
No. Replaced after I rebuilt the engine. So, about 4 years, but not many miles. And the back looks perfect too. Not rusted or cooked out.Keith that the original ecu?
Seriously a strange one did the bend the wires as far as we could still worked ok, would not doubt there is a area with just a few strands hanging on would love to have a TDR to check them.
If it happens again I will use wire tap connectors by the distributer and run bypass wires to the ecu without disturbing anything else.Bad wire. Between pickup and ecu....resistance test on the 2 ecu terminals and pull, twist the wires.
OK, Let me go order that quick. LOLKeith you need to buy one of these!
