Stop in for a cup of coffee

So, the wife comes home yesterday, and comes out to the shop. She says " My car is making a crunchy noise in the front " What?? WTF is that? Her.. " Yeah it crunches when I push on the brake pedal thingy " So I test drive it, needs front brakes. Sooooooo. I order the parts and pull it into the lift bay. Wait till the parts get here 4pm. I go to take the wheels off, left, no problem, Right side...Uh Oh.... It has these BS stainless cap over nut taperd POS lug nuts on it. So the stainless outer spins on one lug for the right side. Try hamming smaller socket on , No dice...Outside is spinning on the inner nut. So I take my miniature air saw and cut slices in the outer so I can remove it. Then I try sockets on the inner nut, No dice....Now I'm thinking split the nut to remove it. Try small chisel and hammer. Bends the chisel. I grind/modify a chisel for my air hammer. Made one nice and small and narrow. Cuts ok along the side of the stud, but won't get into the taper, so the nut will split. Now I'm 2hrs in , trying to get the DAMN wheel off..LOL ....Ok..lets try drilling....Drill 6 1/8 holes along stud and into taper. Enlarge to 1/4 each hole. Hit the remaining wall with air hammer chisel . FINALLY...WTF 3 F'n hours to get the wheel off. Then I gotta go to the parts store myself, cause its 7pm.. Come back, install new stud, brakes, DONE.... 4 HOUR BRAKE JOB....:BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead:

I never had one that bad, but them them caps almost all spun on the Magnum. Been a few years... I think I split them on one side and pulled them out with needlenose vice grips. I think I was able to get a socket on the inner part though. I know it wasn't as bad as your pic.
4hours sucks and I dare ya to try and bill the 'customer'

Yay!! Dart parts are here! This fall is gonna be some massive progress on two projects! I literally have a pickup bed full of parts for these two cars!

You know.... I rarely use the AC in my shop. If I leave the overhead doors closed and run the ceiling fans, it stays comfortable in here. If its 95 outside, it'll be 80-85 in here....Mostly due to the shade trees and the fact that on corner of the building is below ground level...
Nice. This is an old grainery we've been slowly turning into a small wood working shop for my grandfather

Off to work on Homie's sick Duramax. Fuel issues. We're hoping it's just that the fuel gauge pooped the bed and it's out of fuel. We should be so lucky. Have a grand Saturday y'all.

Yeahh. That was a hot mess..... Drove me back to drinkin...Hadn't had a beer in 7 weeks......

I blew 3 12 oz. cans of R12 into the atmosphere yesterday. A big hole in the ozone over my house.
Met a helicopter pilot that flew a a bunch of scientists around the north pole. They are the ones doing holes in the ozone layer research. “They have been there for a million years and arent getting any bigger”
Their biggest concern was how long the study will last....
They probably still watching it.

Was an interesting visit...hood is definetly a 64,and the 2 chrome moldings along top of rear 1/4’s
Was a good day. He is putting together a box of parts for me,A pillar moldings is one.
Says he has some nice pieces stored in another location.

I already put the bushings in, gotta figure out things like which direction to install the cam bolts, not so worried about indexing, just want to be able to roll it onto a trailer. Won't even have shocks on it.

For the cam bolts, the head goes on the inside and the nuts go to the outside....

Put anti-sieze grease on the threads for the suspension parts so it's easier to service them later down the road... Especially any threads that have to do with front end alignment - tie rods and sleeves, upper control arm cam bolts and nuts, etc.....

I found a good set of 892/893 (I think) bars for it.

I would recommend going with new....

Old bars fatigue with age and may break.... All springs fatigue and eventually break....

Buy a new set of 1.00" or 1.030" bars....
