@Old man ray
Ray when you dig out those kick panels, would you have an old set of 383 chrome valve covers??
I'm going to get mine re-chromed this winter and just want something to put on so I can drive it while I wait.
If you don't someone here in the group might. I'd even rent them if you didn't want to sell them. :D

So customer took his car to garage in town. Had a tire fixed and an oil change.
Tech reports back that it needs front brakes.
I just did them 3 weeks ago.
Wtf?
I look,they still new....

Money, money, money...thought they spotted an easy one.

I’m tempted to talk to the co-owner,he’s a friend. Likely has no idea what tomfoolery goes on. Hes just a money man.
Word spreads fast with that kinda crap...if it is going on he'll soon be out of business.

i would. Dealer here tried that crap on me. Took the Jeep in on warranty cause the intake gasket was leaking coolant badly, noticed it when I replaced the clutch. They tried to tell me it needed a new clutch and that I needed to pay them nearly 3500 bucks to replace the clutch as it wouldnt be covered under warranty... I went hell no, its brand new, put in 3 days prior to going in.

The old "I took off the pan on your transmission and look what fell out", with a hand full of parts that no way goes in a transmission, on a "free" transmission check!
My mother fell for it.....:BangHead::bs_flag:

Don't get me started. I was in the service business for 13 years and in and out of a hundred shops weekly for 28 years. I have seen and heard it all. That b/s needs to get spread around. That's fraud in my book.

'dry leaf' pot available at PA dispensaries starting today. But you must vaporize it, not smoke it. :rofl:
Legal to buy pot over the counter but not legal to fire up a still and run off a quart of hooch. LOL I call :bs_flag:

So many times, customer comes in with a list all freaked out because dealer said it needed something like a coolant flush or brake flush.

Guy came in after a service to get brakes done. Gave him a list of things they found while servicing.
What they didnt find-the goddam grease fittings. Not one component saw grease.

Here’s today’s scenario.
Customer drops off car.
Service writer checks wipers and lights and writes the workorder.
Tech dumps oil and replaces filter.
Shakes a few things here and there.
Service writer checks history and based on that determines what services he can upsell.

The gullable customers go for it every time.

The oil change guy does just that.
Change oil.

Very few licenced techs do oil changes in a busy shop. So inspections are minimal at best.

We used to recommend services at 2 years or 24,000 miles. Tune up, wheel pack, trans service, coolant flush. I would let them know about it at around 20,000 miles. We had a lot of customers that got 100,000 miles out of their car with no issues. It was always nice to get a post card from them while they were on vacation that the car was running perfect.

And I'd be sick right up to vacation time.
Never get sinus infections, but the wife does time to time.
They can be nasty!!
Hope you feel better soon.

And my teeth hurt.
Cant think and so tired. Woke up coughing at 3:00. Almost choking.
Had to get up so wfe could sleep.
