Stop in for a cup of coffee

Power file mod was a success. Made a block/spacer to take longer/more durable belts.

I should not be left unsupervised with only my demons to give me suggestions.....

While cleaning up around the shop, I had a brain fart.

I’ve got a bare shell of a ‘71 Duster with a title, but no drivetrain (was a 198 Slant 6 Car with no cool options). I’ve got a 4WD 904 Transmission, an IFS front differential and matching ratio leaf spring rear. Throw a AWD/4WD Dakota Transfer Case into the mix and it’s a recipe for an AWD Duster that looks mostly stock on the outside (aside from sitting a couple inches higher than stock)

I can picture it, but the k-member/oil pan may interfere with keeping it low. But hey, would be a fun project.
Fire up the plasma torch and hold my beer!

Traffic is insane in the summer. Boat traffic as well. Plus farm traffic.

That was the only reason that occurred to me. Like night paving. Can't be disturbing the commuters, vacationers, soccer moms. Let's just turn the lives of a small number of guys upside down for 3 months instead.

sounds like an idea I'd get...

I’m pretty familiar with “Hold my beer” projects.

My cousin and I did a Supercharged 318 Conversion to his Mazda RX7, fueled by beer and coffee, while working two jobs each.

Currently helping a friend do a Supercharged 3.0L AWD Conversion to his ‘90 Daytona. He handles the heavy lifting and funding, I do the fabrication and brainstorming.

A few chores to do then I'm going to take advantage of DRY and go for a cruise on the motorcicle :D

Too cold here to even think about riding a bike. Mine are both packed away until it warms up.

Though technically the one needs overhauled. My ‘78 Yamaha DT175 (2 Stroke) Big Bore/Stroker (297cc) popped a crank seal and ran lean, melted the piston. That was enough to make me cry, there was less than 500 miles on that motor after the Big Bore kit and Stroker Crank.

Have you tried to clean it with some solvent and then some rubbing alcohol???

Sounds like you have some stubborn grease or silicone or something like that stuck on the surface....
I wipe it down before and after I wet sand. He wipes it down before he paints. Going to do something different this time. I'm sure the old guy will have a plan.

Just got back from the shop. He used a high filler primer on it. Put on three heavy coats.
The fish eye is on the lower section of the dash, and isn't too bad.
He said now I block sand it with 400, take out the fish eye, wipe it down, and then he sprays a clear coat on it.
Paints it after it dries. Says it will turn out right.
