Weeeeeellllll....
little update while I have time;

My super cheap, parts pile 318 I was building was going as planned. The rotating assembly comprised of parts from 3 different engines balanced within half a gram with only 1.63 grams removed. (awesome!) The block honed great! Bearing clearances were PERFECT.

Then the machine shop found a crack in the block all the way from #4 main to #4 cam bearing and all the way up to the lifter valley. (not awesome) Because it was found after it was balanced, I need to find a std. bore 318 block because I bought std. pistons and I am not paying another $350 to have it balanced and another ~$450 on top to get new pistons. And my other block with all of GuitarJones oiling mods done to it needs at LEAST .60 over to clean the bores and maybe a sleeve.
So all and all I need a std. 318 block to continue my "cheap" build. I am currently waiting on my buddies to look in their stashes. If they don't find anything I will put out a wanted ad here.

On the other hand, I think I am going to wire it; but as I am EXTREMELY picky about my wiring I don't want it to snowball further and have it turn into a full resto that will take years. I just want to drive it again. (I still need to find a trans and rebuild my 8 3/4 but that's besides the point)

Ford side note- My 64 f100 had its oil pump decide to bypass all the pressure and that needs a rebuild now as well.

SO that's the current car related disasters happening in the desert right now.

Other than that its been alright I think

Damn!

We are supposed to switch to rain at some point today, but this wind sucks, so that may not happen

Good morning folks, quick drive through to say thanks to @dukeboy440 @Ddaddy and @71GSSDemon for tagging me in that post. It’s not really a scam but there is some misinformation. It doesn’t seem to be a for sale ad, but it’s not a 73, it’s a 71. I love how this crew keeps an eye out for each other. Hope you all are well and have a fantastic holiday!

I have taken up the philosophy that I will no longer take roles in any area that I enjoy... Because it makes it suck. Did that with reenacting groups, non profit, church... Just sucks the life out of it. I'm firmly in the role of "participant".
I agree. I loved painting my 56 Ford F-100 in my dad's garage as a kid. Then was a body man 20 years. Finally had enough and changed careers at 42. Didn't touch my tools for 4 years. I then restored my 2 rides and found it very enjoyable.

Morning!
Temp just buzzing around freezing. Not much below..
Two small sections of floor support to replace then i can get on with the wheel openings.

Bought a cool baseball card on bid last night. This is a 1953 Bowman with L-R Yogi Berra, Hank Bauer, and a young Mickey Mantle. This 71-year-old card because of its popularity with kids at the time is difficult to find in good shape without damage or creases. Hank Bauer 3X All-Star and 1998 Baseball Hall of Famer retired to the Kansas City area after his career owned and operated a neighborhood liquor store where Cheryl grew up. She remembers going into the store with her mom as a kid. Hank would give candy to all the kids and knew everyone by name. She remembers her mom told her he was a famous baseball player but never really understood until years later. We recently bought an autographed baseball he signed and display this card with it.
