Agree !! I can smell it from Arkansas, yep, I smelled it as soon as I seen it.
Every set has a traded set it was the traded players that year and some better rookies after the year's original players set was produced. What's it worth not sure a sealed 1984 baseball card set you can buy for $50. In the mid 80's the baseball card business picked up and companies like Topps, Bowman, and Fleer greatly over produced and flooded the market. In comparison a 1970 Topps set depending on condition can bring average $8K.

It's like the car business. If you're able to front the money it can be profitable. Like recently I bought an average complete 1957 Topps set cheap needed work I'll replace probably 100-125 cards or more (407 card set) for various reasons. I'll take the star cards Mantle, Clemente, Mays, Aaron, etc. in the set and get them graded based on condition of the card or buy better graded cards selling those star cards I don't use. I'll spend 3K over a year or so and then have a set I can sell for $12k or more almost doubling my money. Finding the cards for the right price is the fun part for me online bids, online sellers, card shows, they're out there.

Vending cards are nice to find in the box. The 1968 box for $25 would have been a great buy. The 1970 set is average at best.
That'd be great never know what you might find.
