Stop in for a drink.

In the shop sipping on some Captain and working on repairing a MoPar dealership sign to hang on the outside of my shed...put some pieces back together like a puzzle, glued them and held it all tight with some heavy duty packing tape. It will look good high on the wall...the nicer one gets to be inside. Also have some music playing and admiring the view around me.

Just hanging out in the back yard of our beach rental with the family. Having a few cold ones too, of course!

I was just fixin' to ready the pit for use and the wingman called. "Come on. We're goin to dinner, I'll be there in 30." Got 1 Rolling Rock down before his arrival .

Full day on the water fishing and crabbing. Caught a dozen snapper blue fish and a half dozen large blue claw crabs. The sun and salt water really takes it out of me, but it’s a good kind of tired. Having a few cold ones before I clean and fillet the fish. Got a little sun...but too bad.

It's Happy Hour at Dunkin', the donut place. $2 medium latte hot or cold. Add 1 generous shot of Yukon Jack, after I got it home of course. Not too bad. I need to restock my liqueur supply. A little Frangelico, I could have had a Nutty Canadian Priest .

Well, this was a fun day on the island...not!

About 2 pm, a massive thunderstorm blew up and parked itself over us for more than 4 hours!

4” of rain, bursts of 60 mph straight line winds, 3000+ lighting strikes within 5 miles, and to top it off...a water spout rolled across the bay and beach right over us wet blasting everything with 70 mph wind driven rain full of sand! The neighbors house across the canal was also hit by a massive lighting bolt and blew a large portion of the roof to bits.

The pool has a half inch of sand in it, the glass on the north side of the house is visibly etched and half of the deck furniture is missing or broken. 2 kayaks, 3 paddle boards and 1 floating dock are missing from the neighbors homes and presumed blown out into the bay. The canal has about a dozen pieces of deck furniture floating in it. The marina across the street is missing 2 boats.

I literally thought the house was going to be blown apart in the worst of it. It started shuddering and the the water was being blown in around every window several feet into every room.

We sheltered for over an hour in the core laundry/bath area on the first floor of the house hoping it was good enough to keep us safe. Power and internet just came back on a little while ago.

It’s calm, clear and cool here now and not a fun part of a family vacation...but we are all safe.

That’s all that matters.

That sucks. Glad your all OK

Thanks. It was pretty frightening for quite a while. I honestly wasn’t sure we were going to make it out in one piece during the worst of it.
Holy crap guy! The beauty of living where you live I guess? On plus side you guys are all safe and sound! At the end of the day the rest is just stuff. Glad you and yours are good to go.

Oh yea,

The end of a 14 hour day

Just got home, time for a root beer in a frosted mug with a scoop of ice cream with oreo chunks

Then a bath with some jams playing some jams.
Then fall asleep to a movie....

Only to get up tomorrow and do it all again.

Tuesdays are usually as much of a zoo as mondays

This was a very unusual event for here. I have been coming to this island for over 45 years and my parents owned a house here for nearly 30 years that I spent every summer in between age 12 and 18. Only a few Summer storm events that I ever remember were significantly severe...and nothing was ever as bad as this one was.

But we are all safe and the vacation is just beginning...so hopefully it’s all sun and fun from here!

The big question is, what will it do to the fishing?
