WooHoo Fireball and a useful bucket
Saw them in the adult beverage market
Those adult beverage marketing people must do a lot of product samples during working hours

I just got done with a Weller barrel pick review.

It's time for a review.

Marshall Beer Wine and Spirits has a Weller barrel pick. (I hope they still have some) It was a distillery pick done by a group of guys from the area. It's a Full Proof offering coming in at 114 which is not barrel proof but it's tempered a wee bit for consistency. I hope one of you that were on the pick can fill us in on the tasting proof, procedure, and tasting notes.
I have tried it many times and it keeps getting better as time goes on. I am a half inch past the shoulders. Because it is a Wheater it does have a bit different profile than a Bourbon or a Rye but you can tell it's a Buffalo Trace product because of the grape notes on the nose and palate.

Nose: Light grape, vanilla, and light oak. Very pleasant. Those flavors stay around in the Glen Carin long after the last sip.

Palate: The proof shows it's power first on the palate. It's not a burn as much as a prickly tingle that settles into a mouth warming feel that resembles a light grape pastry with vanilla frosting. Not sugary sweet but more a frosting taste and feel. I would give it a medium mouth feel but long lasting well into the finish.

Finish: I get a slight oaky bitterness on the finish but the grape and vanilla flavors overcome that. I am over 5 min. into my last sip and there are still grape, vanilla, and oaky notes on the finish.

I will be honest. I didn't know what to think of this at first but after it opens up with time in the bottle, it is turning into a nice sipper. Like with many bottles I have bought, they get really good as you get closer to the half full mark. Enjoy the ride and give it some time. If you don't have a Weller in your collection may be you should have this one.

Cheers!
