Just an FYI on removal and installation of the bushing... I didn’t find much on fabo except while the trans was installed.

I rented (free) a seal press kit from O’Reilly and they had the nearly perfect diameter attachment for removing and installing the tailshaft bushing. I used the one that was 1.750” to remove it.

I first gave it a wack or two with a 4 lb. hammer just to free it, then drove it the rest of the way into the tailhousing with my 12 ton press.

Installing was about the same, though I used a larger diameter for tapping the new bushing in straight just to get it started. I flipped it over so that the cone wasn’t forcing the bushing open, but the larger, flat side down against the bushing.

I think I ended up buying the Harbor Freight 1 and doing the same thing. I just kind of wanted to keep the tool. I do like that rental program for us hobbyist though.

Yeah.. I looked at that one too. Close to pulling the trigger. I probably will, since it’s so versatile and the rental tools are treated like crap by people using them the wrong way and/or not caring.

Driving in the tailshaft seal with an old brass syncro laid on the new seal, and a 2” pipe fitting.
