Lookin for opinions about the best sway bars to help handling with a 67 barracuda with a B engine. Thanks,no bars on it at all yet.

Look into Hellwig. They are a good value looking at quality and thoroughness of install kit versus price.

They offer a hollow, solid, and bent-arm versions. The bent arm is for wide front tires with larger than 4.5"-5" and up backspace rims.

Here is a factory sway bar installed on a '67 Dart.

Don't waste time with the factory swaybar if you don't already have one — it's hard to find, too small and you can't easily replace the bushings. Hellwig makes a very nice kit. ADDCO makes an inexpensive bar, but the mounting bracket is grossly inferior to Hellwig's — I wouldn't recommend it (I have one but I completely reengineered the mounts and the end links).

Hellwig #55917 is the “pro touring” front sway bar, it puts the sway bar tabs in a similar spot as the 73+ cars and increases tire clearance. If you’re planning on 17+ rims and anything 245mm or wider for tires in the front you need the #55917.

If you want to have the stock 67-72 sway bar tab locations on the LCA’s, Hellwig #5906 is what you need. It can be used with the factory LCA tabs. But that bar will limit tire width to about 235mm max.

Hotchkis also makes a very nice bar for the 67-72 cars, but it’s more expensive and functionally isn’t much different than the #55917. The Hotchkis bar, like the 55917, will not work with the factory 67-72 LCA tab locations. Which doesn’t matter unless you have LCA’s from a factory sway bar car.

I went with Hellwig on mine. SDTrucksprings.com had them for $100 cheaper than anywhere else. They were out of stock, but Summit had them and price matched. I ordered them last summer. I think they were $230 eaxh for the front and rear. The front made a huge difference, I haven't installed the rear yet

Thanks! Sounds like the majoritzy is helwig. Thanks for the advice. Now I know what to do.

Put that rear one on  no more roll over, and it ties it down.

Another vote for Hellwig. I have one on my '69 Valiant. I had minor installation difficulty with the K-member brackets, but that was Chrysler's fault. The upper and lower halves of the K-frame had the holes stamped before they were welded together, and on mine they were slightly offset. I couldn't get a bolt through. Fixing that was quick, easy work with the grinder. Other than that foible, the installation was straightforward and simple. The quality is excellent.

Sanity check. Supposedly this is going to be a street car / driver. At least that is what I tell myself.

So... I have a '68 A-body with a '75 K-frame and QA1 LCAs. I have what I think is an ADDCO '73+ sway bar for the front that I purchased and installed about 25 years ago currently on a shelf. It is yellowish and 1-1/8" solid bar. I have FF 1.12" torsion bars, welded and reinforced K-frame, Borgeson PS, roller bearing idler, and the sector shaft support. I have Spax adjustable shocks. Plan is for 275/35-18 or possibly 285/35-18 tires. Front brake is Dr Diff "stage 4" with the Viper style 4 piston and 13" Baer rotors.

Q1: If I want to go to the lighter Hellwig bar then 55905 is my bar I assume?

Was debating going up to the 1.18" torsion bars, but want to drive it first.

On the rear, springs are mounted in the frame. Mini-tubs and some other clearance enhancements. Debating sliders. May run as large as 355/30-19. Dr Diff 11.7" rear brakes with Baer rotors.

Q2: Rear bar that fits is Hellwig 6908 (E-body) in my case? Does anyone have one mounted with the narrowed inboard springs and can show picture where end link attaches and clearance to spring?

I can't offer help on the rear bar, I am planning to install the Hellwig A body rear bar on my mini tubbed Duster. But do you have more information on that steering shaft brace you show pictured?

Q1-

Yes, with the '73+ K frame and the QA1 LCA's you want the Hellwig 55905. That's exactly the combination I run. This isn't the greatest picture but it shows the LCA and sway bar pretty well. I shortened the end links a bit when I installed the QA1 LCA's, I had previously been running 73+ LCA's with stock sway bar tabs and that was the only change going to the QA1's.

I've been running 1.12" torsion bars on my Duster for almost 40k miles now. They're a good street bar with the suspension modifications you have. I actually have a set of 1.18's, but I haven't installed them as of yet, too many other projects. Even with the 1.12's and everything I've done to maintain about 5" of suspension travel I can still use the entire range of travel and occasionally bottom the suspension with the 1.12's, so the 1.18's should still be pretty streetable.

I've also been running the DoctorDiff Stage IV kit, although I didn't spring for the 2 piece rotors. It's a really nice set up with the 11.7" rear disks and a 15/16" master cylinder.

Q2-

So I run the 6908 Hellwig bar on my Duster with just the 1/2" offset, but that results in some angle on the Hellwig end links.

This is 72BBswingers car, which he sold years ago now. But he ran the 6908 Hellwig bar with the full 3" relocation. This is a picture of his car, with the end links mounted to the spring box for the relocation. I would probably reinforce it a bit myself, but this is what he ran. You can see it lines up pretty darn well with the inside of the relocation spring box, at least the way that 72BBswinger did it.

That's what I did and it still came out a good bit cheaper than the Helwig. But if you ain't crazy about a little bit of mods and fab work......
