Talked to Harold at Spitfire(Headers)

I'm still waiting for my set since July 30-08, Threatened suit and charges multiple times, he calls a begs for more time. I finally have all my documentation, cashed check.....He has till Jan 31 or criminal charges will be filed.

If you talk to him...tell him Mike in NJ wants his headers!
 
OK, i have a question that I haven't seen yet (maybe I missed it). Out of the folks that have actually received the headers and installed them on their cars, how do they work!?!? Do they actually fit? do you notice a gain in performance? I don't know anything about this Harold person except what i read on the net and I have yet to see anything from an actual user saying whether the product works or not. Being they are short that should fix the low clearance problem of the non TTI/Dougs headers on the market. If they indeed do work I would like a pair to replace the iron manifolds on my Duster. I know, I know, COD!!!! (thanks Joe).
 
I've always thought the spitfires look like junk. Looks like they were designed in five minutes. They can't flow worth snot. Just look at how that front Y comes into the SIDE of the collector. LMAO. Talk about reversion. That's a 90 degree non-radiused bend! That means the exhaust has to change direction very abruptly. Poor designing. I'm sorry. But I think Harold is one heck of a ripoff con man. All he did was design some tubes that fit the chassis. That's ALL. It wasn't about flow. They're JUNK, yall. To even think these "headers" could be much better than manifolds is just absurd. On top of that, he steals your money. Yall need to stop buyin from him until he makes a real header and actually puts out pruduct. I bet there's not a ten horse difference between STOCK NON HP manifolds and his crap. The manifolds might even make more. LOL CRAP I say. Plain CRAP.
 
I hate to rain on your parade Stroker,but they do flow better than stock manifolds and do increase HP.Harold is still a DICK though.:bootysha:
 
they definatley flow better then a 340 manifold thats for sure. when djvcuda put them on his car the difference over the 340 manifolfds that came off it was incredible. looking at them at first i didn't think they would work so well. boy was i wrong.. his car has been 12.50's with them..... i'm sure a tti or dougs header would flow even better but for the price ya can't really go wrong ..
 
I haven't bought any but as difficult as early A headers are, Harold has done a great job. They aren't equal length tubes like the rest but they are a "quick exit for leftovers" and they provide a low cost alternative to high priced race type headers. Harold and his business practices are a different story. The horror stories of our guys paying him in advance and not getting their headers months later is unacceptable. Buyer beware and order them COD. I think Harold makes them for Laysons. He possibly gets overwhelmed with a large order from them and drops the ball when it comes to a single order. Just a thought. I know for a fact that Harold did not make headers for Layson. Layson's had a header manufacturer local to me copy a set of Spitfires and stopped payment upon delivery. I have seen the fixtures and one reference set. If there is enough interest, I can get them made.

I see. I saw pictures of the Laysons headers and they looked like Harolds. I just thought he was making them. He needs to patent them so people won't copy them. Mike
 
"Harold has really done a great job" "ya really can't go wrong for the money" The heck yall say. Yall have lost your minds. If you CAN'T get the headers, that negates all the warm and fuzzy stuff. They don't flow worth CRAP if you don't have them. That means, ANY manifold on the planet outflows them. Got me now? Yall keep throwin money at this clown. It's your money. I think he's a crook and had I given him some money and waited as long as some of you, Harold would be in the hospital. That's just how it is. You take somebodys money and don't come across and don't refund, that's stealin. That's an *** beatin waitin to happen from this old boy. There are still people that have paid and not received. If somebody pays me for somethin, they get all they're supposed to get and then some. I enjoy doing it, I enjoy helping people and I have a good reputation all over middle Georgia. Even though I'm disabled now. I still enjoy helping others if I can. His headers are JUNK because of his business practices. I don't care if they outflow everything on the market. because of how he does business, that ruins the whole thing. It's really kinda sad. He has a chance to provide something that a LOT of people need. An affordable header for the early A body. But through crappy business practices, he's flubbin it all up. What a moron. and I don't give a rat's butt about "but Harold's a one man operation, blah blah blah..". If he cannot produce product, he shouldn't even be doin it. End of story.
 
I sure as h-e double toothpicks wont buy nothing from that guy. One guy getting ripped is one too much for me.

I dont know about bannin talkin about stuff....sounds kinda socialistic. LOL ......but what's the deal with Laysons? I'm not familiar with them other than seein their name chunked around a little. Seems i remember seein somethin about them goin outta business. Wouldn't that remove them as a threat?

Speaking from my own experience, I had good dealings with Harold, but Layson's is a different story.

Sometimes I had no choice, but to buy from them, as they have a lot very hard to find A-body stuff, reproduced.

But from my experience, they were habitual liars on the phone about order status, charged my card as soon as I ordered something. I think the tail light lenses took 6 months, maybe longer. Even though they were always either unloading a shipment, or one was due in shortly.

It is my understanding they are back in business, after their run in with Chrysler, on the trademark issue, or whatever that was.

that would be the worst thing to do. these forums are intended for people to get information. well the laysons and spitfire information is information that people need to make in informed decision on weather to buy from those companies or not. i for one would be pissed if 100 guys here knew about a place that would rip me off and never said anything about it when i asked.
