Teenagers suck

My kid crashed his jeep again. This time it could have gone bad and he was lucky to only mangle the jeep.

Now I know why everyone was so pissed off at me all the time when I was a teenager.
 
Glad your kid is okay. I look back all the time at when I was a teen and man, I was such a terrible kid! I put my poor parents through hell.
 
One of my kids caused my BMW 330i M-Sport Coupe to go through a brick wall
Another one, almost burned down my house ($95k in damage).

The things they destroy are metal, plastic and other junk and easily replaceable. My kids are not, and I made sure they knew I understood that each time. It's what we do as parents.

Glad your kid is OK. Hope he learns his lessons.

My neighbor's kid recently turned 18 and immediately started causing trouble. He had a good job with an outfit, but they also hire ?? foreigners ?? I could not get from the neighbor just what these guys are. Anyway, the kid could not get along with them and got fired. BEFORE he got fired, he ran his pickup off the road and down a steep bank into some trees. No idea what really happened, but he was probably screwin off and is damn lucky. So he bought another pickup, and immediately started putting **** wheelwell lights in the thing EVEN THOUGH the brake light(s) were inoperateve. I jumped him about it (saw him leaving the hood) and so did his dad. THEN he SAWED OFF THE muffler.
 
We were all teenagers once. Some of us dumber and/or luckier than others.
When we pay for our own parts, groceries, rent, socks,,, and NOT dad..... we usually smart up if we survived.

Yep,parts are on him this time. As is most of the wrenching. Dad will be the welder and instructor only this time.

My older brother wrecked our mom's car and my dad took his license away from him for a year. If the jeep can be fixed have your son pay for all repairs. But this is just my opinion. If us parents keep doing things for our kids they won't learn responsibility.

Hopefully that will "learn 'im", having to pay for the parts & labor.

I had to pay for a $300 piece of glass when I was a teen due to throwing a screwdriver (throwing a tantrum?) through a window. When my dad made me pay for it I learned really fast to never do that again.
 
I am the eldest of five. I was a model child, lol. I only crashed my own cars, and only twice, both times minor collisions with immovable objects. Oh wait, I crashed Mum's car once, a tiny British-Ford Anglia, Yeah I had to pay the insurance deductible.
On the other hand, my younger brother, 10 years younger, and the youngest son, was an unholy terror. He crashed every car Dad/Mum ever owned, and every car I handed down, and almost every car he ever bought.
Finally, at age 40, he was killed in crash, leaving behind three sons and a daughter.
Some teenagers just never learn.
When my teenagers were growing up, I provided one old beater. I was pretty sure it would get beat up; but that's what I provided it for. As it turns out, it survived them all, relatively unscathed.
 
My grandfather had me driving garden tractors probably by the time I was 10 years old. Then he built a Briggs & Stratton powered little truck for me. Then he bought a mini bike for me. And at 14, I bought a 100cc Honda Scrambler. Mom put tag and insurance on my Honda the day I got my license. Lucky for me I learned my lesson early on as I drove her nice little 66 Mustang to school through this 35mph s-curve section of road on the way to school every morning. I kept trying it faster and faster each day until finally I lost control. I almost got it stopped just before centering a utility pole. Bent the hood, grille, and bumper. I don't know what I thought would eventually happen as I was going over 55mph that last time. I decided not to push my luck anymore on curvy roads. Then I got my 1st car, a 68 Charger R/T. Wide open much of the time but mainly on long straightaways.
 
My daughter got into a mele at school and accidently bit the arm of a teacher trying to break it up, she was arrested and spent 21 days in the juvenile detention center when she went to court the judge sentenced her to attend a program called SWEAT and a parent had to attend it with her, so I got to go with her. To this day I still remember the consular saying that teenagers do these things and when you ask them why they don't know why they did it. The consular explanation is because of all the hormones and the lack of a fully formed brain that they aren't mentally capable of making good decisions.
 
Got my duster at 15 with my own money and ambition, Now 17 she's in better shape and is very well taken care of, Its a /6 so that helps a bit in the cars favor lol:lol:
 
I was such a great kid i always said i wasnt gonna put myself through that and i was gonna adopt kids

Then i dont know what the wife did to me, but it got her pregnant

Hes 14 now and a great kid
 
My dad didn't put up with any back talk and no meant no. I remember him saying that I know that your a teenager and your going to do stupid things, if you go to jail I'll come and get you, you go again and I'll see you when you get out. Dad was rough probably more than most but at 65 I can honestly say that I've never been arrested or even in a cop car.

I’m much worse now (at 45) than I was as a teenager. My dad wouldn’t let me get out of shape when I was younger. He was military and ran the household that way. I did some dumb **** but never really got caught. All of the really stupid crap (read: expensive) I’ve done, I’ve done as an adult and my Dad just laughs at me.
 
Pa spent 25 years in the USMC, 2 wars, one was the big one, and he was darn near retired when I came along (unexpected also). Only time he threatened me was IF I joined the service. Said he would kick my *** from the Hell and back. But Ma, she would knock you on your *** if she figured I needed it. I was lucky I had all my teeth.
She worked in the county tag/tax office in the court house back in Ga. I was up there after school one afternoon and I was about 14 or 15. One of the deputies was having fun with her and poked her with a cattle prode. Wow did she kick some asses!! I quietly and quickly left!

when he was a 5 or 6 he had a bit of an impulse control issue (nothing major, just boys being boys type thing) and one of my buddies suggested we put him in martial arts

so at 6, i took him to take a few teakwondo classes
after 3 classes i asked him is he liked it, and he said yes

i said, if you're gonna stick with it, ill sign you up for the entire black belt program, but that is a three year commitment, and he said, sign me up

just this week he brought the paperwork home, he is ready to try out for his third degree black belt

about two years ago they asked him to volunteer a little at the dojo, and ever since he turned 14 he is officially on staff as a junior instructor


and since his birthday is in February, he will be taking drivers ed this winterim (electives at his school, the first few weeks after christmas break)

since his mom never warmed up to the winter beater i had bought her, i bought her a '18 journey a few months ago and the boy will get her charger
yeah, we're tossing him in the deep end

but hes a good kid, im sure hell make it through this time just fine
