I want to make this a separate thank you thread, but I will also update my Cheap & Nasty build thread, too. Thank you @replicaracer43 Sean for doing a great job on my lifters. They all look great.

As far as I know, Every deadgum Chrysler solid lifter is the 2084S "dumbell" lifter. I am unsure about the Max Wedges and Race Hemis.....they may have used them as well. I don't know because I've never been into an original one.

i know that the poly's are shorter than LA's but beyond that i don't have a bunch of granular knowledge on them.

question: doesn't the barbell bleed off oil pressure in a V8?

Not to my knowledge. I believe they were stock in the 273 solid motors. They are short little feckers, though.

the ones i've had apart were all full cylinder/shell type.

*squints* you shore you ain't talking 'bout some of dem FE lifters? ;D

Naw. I've had some 273s apart and they all had the dumbells. Maybe it's a year split thing?

Not that it's any proof, because you know how parts listings are these days, but Rock Auto shows both types of solid lifters. The dumbell and full shell type. That's for a 64 Barracuda with a 273.
 
If you use a "Dumbell" lifter in a 273 with a big cam, you can loose oil pressure. When a cam is ground, the larger the lift, the smaller the base circle. Whit a small base circle, the lifter can drop far enough so the dumbell groove goes low enough to bleed oil pressure out of the lifter bore. I found this out back in the "70's with the first 273 I built. Used a Crane cam with around .550 lift, and couldn't make hardly any oil pressure. Finally found the problem by removing the oil pan, and running the oil pump with a drill. We coul;d see the oil leaking from the lifter bore on the lifters that were on the base circle. Had to use the straight side lifters. This is another reason for using the "kit" to sleeve/bush the lifter oil galleys.

NICE! This is really old stuff to know these days.
I had a co worker asking me if I wanted his left over 340 parts from his father and son build.
Dumbbell lifters can with a few things.
