That time of year: who needs winter tires anyway?

I can see needing this in upstate ny type of weather but they really aren’t needed here in south jersey in my personal experience.im sure they work well but we don’t get too much snow and ice lately or consistently.

I personally love driving at night in the snow. Cindy on the other hand...

Long Island is much the same, BUT, in cycles, we can and do get a good pounding. The worst was 36 inches in one day long storm. Normally we call 12+ a crummy day.

We have it good with the ocean next to us. The storms allways give up a little bit. Forecasts are always “3-6 with 2 or more north and west of the city” almost every time.

It may not be typical northern winter, but I’ll take it over some of the other snow fall amounts I see.

The last ice storm we had i made an honest attempt to go to work. Even the sanding trucks were parked. Its scary when you are out of control at a dead idle. 5 miles and back was like 2 hours. The municipal sanders that look after the side roads wouldnt go out. They ended sanding while backing up. Three days before we got our roads back.
