Here's a list, rated by Edmunds, that I saw online today...glad to see not a single Mopar in sight!
6 GM products, 3 Ford products,...and the Yugo.

Enjoy!

#10 - 1971 Ford Pinto, built to a $2,000 base price, the subcompact Pinto lacks protection for its rear-mounted fuel tank. It earns a reputation as a fire-prone death trap and Ford pays out millions in judgments.
#9 - 1917 Chevrolet Series D, Chevy's first V8 could only manage 36 hp -- less than the brand's four-cylinder engine. GM killed it after 1918, and the next Chevy V8 came a full 37 years later.
#8 - 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Diesel, as bad as the 5.7-liter Olds diesel V8 was, the 4.3-liter version was worse. Sold only in the '79 Cutlass, the 4.3 diesel made 90 hp before shattering into shrapnel.
#7 - 1982 Cadillac Cimarron, shameful, cynical attempt to compete against BMW with a redecorated version of the front-drive, four-cylinder Chevrolet Cavalier. A self-inflicted wound that nearly killed Cadillac.
#6 - 1958 Edsel Corsair, Ford goes hunting for a market niche that wasn't there with a redecorated Mercury that had been beaten with an ugly stick. The legendary flop of all automotive flops.
#5 - 2003 Saturn Ion, shockingly incompetent to drive and with a stupid interior to match. Kick it and your foot could get stuck in the gaps between the plastic body panels. Easily the second worst car of the 21st century.
#4 - 1971 Chevrolet Vega, an engine that couldn't hold oil, in a car built with contempt for its buyers. It's the car that invited Americans to buy Toyotas and Hondas. However, it did make a good Pro Stock racer.
#3 - 1987 Yugo, a Serbian-made version of the Fiat 127 that people thought couldn't possibly be as awful as its low price suggested. But it was!
#2 - 1974 Ford Mustang II, built upon the spindly bones of the Pinto, this shrunken, malformed pony is instantly appalling to Mustang lovers. And, unfortunately, hugely popular with buyers stuck with serial fuel crises.

...and #1 - 2001 Pontiac Aztek, drive one and you quickly realize that the Aztek's exterior design is its best feature. It's the very worst car of all time because it's the only car on the list to kill an 84-year-old car company. It's undeniable that the Aztek's utter hideousness drove the biggest and last nails into Pontiac's heavily side-clad, plastic coffin.

Then you have this recall ocdart from Detroit
General Motors is recalling nearly 69,000 pickup trucks, SUVs and vans worldwide because they can roll away unexpectedly.

The recall affects certain 2013 models of the Chevrolet Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, Avalanche and Express. Also included are the GMC Sierra, Savana and Yukon as well as the Cadillac Escalade.

GM says the vehicles may have been built with faulty park lock cables or malformed steering column lock gears. The vehicles can be shifted out of park even if the ignition key is in the off position or removed. GM says about one in 1,000 of the vehicles has the problem, and most haven't been sold yet.

The company says it knows of no crashes or injuries caused by the problem.

The recall includes almost 55,000 vehicles in the U.S. and another 14,000 in Canada, Mexico and elsewhere in the world.. Heads up
I don't think I have ever owned any of the bad cars on your list ocdart, WAIT I had a pinto my oldest son raced on the dirt :shaking2:

Those were some awful cars! One small error, it was "Cimarron by Cadillac" not Cadillac Cimarron, I guess Cadillac wanted to distance itself from that car right from the start.

The Cadillac Cimarron was nothing but a rebranded Sunbird/Cavalier of the era. All of them were POS cars.

What was that little Renault car that was sold here in the early 80`s?
Oh yeah, LeCar LOL, they did`nt seem to last long?

GM really screwed the buying public with all their diesel cars in the late 70's

But for those that bought them and drove them on the road they were not that bad. They were not in town commuter cars.

$4,000 premium to buy, and know of a year old gran prix the guy was offered a $1,000 on trade. $12,000 dollar car, 1 y r old and at a GM dealer to boot.

I had a 83 elCamino with the 5.7 diesel (yes factory and I have only seen 3 others in person and one online) by 83 they had most of the problems resolved, but they turned the buyers away with the horror stories about them. Mine had 242,000 miles on it and the engine had never been taken apart, got 29 mpg new and still getting low 20's with over 200,000 miles.

Personally wish I still had it. And as far as Pinto's, liked them too. Most cars had the gas tank in the back then. The trucks had the tank inside the cab, GM put them outside the frame rail after removing it from the cab.

Media plays a big roll in the car.

Chrysler had their fair share of turds.

But you know why the Yugo had rear window defroster?

HAND WARMERS

one problem I have with the list (not necessarily the cars on it, but the reasoning behind it: The 1974 Mustang II seems to be on the list because it was "instantly appalling to Mustang lovers"
"Second worst car ever" and "hugely popular with buyers" don't really go together to me lol.

I actually liked the pinto. My best friend had one with working side pipes,L60 15s in back and G60s in front. We lived in central Fl. and that thing would go thru sand that rail dune buggys would get stuck in.

im really really surprised the dodge aspen/ Plymouth Volare were not on that list.....they are mopars but still horrible cars. Chrysler should have just kept the old reliable Dart/Duster line up to 1980 ....prolly would have saved Chrysler some embarassment :blackeye::blackeye:

What about the Omni/Horizon-Volkswagon rabbit?
I don't know about that,...Had a 80 1.7 Omni that I bought offa the wholesale line at the dealership I worked at,...Only put Tires, a timing belt, and cleaned the carb every 50 thou,...I beat the holy dogsnots outa that car for 200 thousand miles,...flooded It in a swamp, Mudded it constantly, Did "J" burners alla time, (usually with a canoe strapped to the top,...don;t ask),...Did hundreds of Fire dept calls with It,...It always started ,ran and stopped,.......Best 600 bucks I ever spent...

We literally had a tractor trailer load of fenders behind the parts department at the dealership,....rust issues,...made an assload of money on them things...

I had a 71 pinto when the 4 banger gave up we swapped in a 351c,those GM diesel converted gas motors were junk, but they made great alcohol drag motors beleve it or not i knew guys that swore by them.
I'm suprised the K cars did not make the list.

Had a buddy who had a red, white, and blue pinto that we did that swap with,...later on we put that same motor in a black and gold Mustang 2, Cobra 2 I think it was....best thing we ever did to both of those cars...

Don't forget the Renault Alliance. They were recalled due to heater hoses inside the passenger compartment which would fail and scald the driver's legs/feet with 190 degree coolant while he/she was driving along.

The joke around the Chrysler training center in Mansfield, Mass. was that the third pond in back was rusty brown, cause thats where all the buy back Renaults were dumped,....

And Lets not forget the Premier/Monaco's from the late 80's,....True Junk...

I've never understood why Dodge got a bad rap out of the couple of dozens dodge beater ive had none really ever let me down or cost anything much to maintain, Some I've beat on real bad a /6 duster blew a rad hose on a hot summers day drove it 50km to home put a new hose on and drove it another year until blowing a rod out the side because I forgot to put oil in and drove a /5 home again 50km from home.

My cousin got a theory that dodge last so long it gives them a bad name I still see dodges from the 70/80/90's still on the road as daily driver while Chev's, Fords, Toyota's and Honda's which all out produced Chrysler are all but extinct up here in Ontario Canada anyway.

Yes Renault should be on the list but what about Peugeot or Citroën? They have a saying about French cars. the French don't copy anyone and nobody copies the French.

Did you know that Aztek was the first car to get the nod to get built by the first WOMEN CEO of a major car company............. just saying
