People really need to research the term 'Commando' before they list their car as having one. It's the same with every single Chevy I see at a car show, they're all labeled an 'SS'. I actually enjoy seeing the ones that aren't labeled 'SS' over the ones that are. Or like everyone having the R/T emblem on their stuff.

PS, check out the air cleaner.

When chicks go commando, it's awesome
Oh wait you're talking about something else, yea I get you're point it is annoying. I get people asking if my SS is a clone because every Tom dick and Harry thinks they need to throw them on there.

Yep that Commando air cleaner is a dandy and it's good the "Breaks" aren't broke. lol

All Chevys have vette motors in them. All mopars may as well have Hemis or commandos.

that is the special order 3 1/2 inch holley commando air cleaner. my 225 super commando duster came with one

It's funny I was just reading the classified ads for cars over the weekend, both on here & CL & was thinking the same thing. It seems as though there are a lot of 273 2bbl "commando" V8s out there. Like every '67 Dart or Barracuda that had a 273 in it was a "commando". The term is widely over used!
I also see a lot of #s matching '67 Darts & 'Cudas on ebay w/ the original 318 engine in them.
I remember street racing in high school & it was like every guy with a camaro, nova, chevelle or whatever had an LT-1 in it hen we would ask "what you got in that?" Seems chevy made an awful lot of 307 2bbl LT-1s back in the day! LOL! Same thing with Ford guys, they all were running either a "289 Hi-Po" 2bbl or a "351 cleveland".
I guess it will never change.

Most Plymouth flavored Mopars with V8's of the era had one.

Perhaps you are confusing the term "Super"Commando, which corresponds to the Dodge "Magnum" or the Chrysler "TnT" varieties?

With 4 bolt mains, double hump heads and backed by a Hurst 4 speed! Back to Mopars, all tri carb set ups are six packs! But let's face it, six pack just sounds cooler than six barrel, so I give that one a pass.

Correct me if I'm wrong but engines were only labeled "Commando" if they had a 4-bbl. carb from the factory...

Yep. My '65 Sport Fury has a Commando V8 which is a 383-2bbl. Not all Commandos were 4bbls.

On LA engines I believe that to be correct. However, I know that is not the case with BB engines. 383-2bbl engines were referred to as Commandos while the 383-4bbl was called a Super Commando.

Fair enough, but no 2 bbl 273 in a Cuda was ever a Commando.

Wasn't every Chevy Small block a 'Vette Motor', or a '4-Bolt Main'.

The 273 'Commando' in a 1965 thru 1967 A-Body was a 273/235 HP engine.

You also, did not have to order a 'Formula S' package to get the 273 Commando engine.

I went to a Mopar Meet, and a guy was trying to sell a original 1968 Road Runner with a
440/375 HP Super Commando engine. He even had the 'paperwork'. I tried for a half-hour
telling him they did not make a 1968 440 Road Runner, but sometimes you cannot talk to a rock.
