Well the wife did some sandblasting the other day. We wanted to see just how bad the left fender was. Soooo it's blasted and it's not pretty like we where thinkin. I can fix it but if I can find another then it will most definitly be replaced.
I am impressed with your progress, great work. I have been thinking a lot about taping and shooting my own flames. I draw flames on everything I can get my hands on...practicing. I think about finding a spare 64 hood, and putting a cool hood scoop on it, and putting flames on it.
I'm the same way with flames. Draw them everytime I pick up a pen. lol
Love the look of flames. If you do tape some just remember that when you tape them they need to look kinda large. When I first started laying out flames I kept taping them and they would look skimpy once I removed the tape. Turned out, I was taping them proportional to the outside of the tape and not the inside.
Car is looking good.. I am glad yall are still having fun with it.. I just picked up a 71 Swinger... So I am back into them again.. Oh and the Docotr has my medicne straighten out finaly.. I feel like I am 30 again...
Hey if you want we can head out to that junkyard I know about and we can find a better one. Maybe one that only needs a lower patch. I know he is really cheap on his nice fenders so if there is one out there it can be had for cheap.
Very impressed with this work...and the help of your wife...I can go back to my second date with my wife of 22+ years..anyway, I had her under my MG on our second date trying to get it's exhaust on..she helped me w/o complaint so I asked her to marry me about a month later..
I am envious of your lift..would like one myself..I am going to show this thread to my daughter..may give her some ideas !!
Hey thanks for the comments guy's. There hasn't been anything new done to the car in awhile. Summertime and fall are like the most busy time for the wife and me. Hopefully this winter we will be crankin it again.
Amazing work and motivation to us all. Your wife is probably more skilled than half the FABO readers. A few questions:
1. It appears that after metal repair, you put Bondo directly on the metal. I always wondered if better to prime the metal first since I recall reading that water can migrate thru fiberglass, and maybe Bondo as well. Any experience or thoughts on that?
2. Will the hood close as is or will you have to cut a scoop? This question arises often for Magnums. Of course you made custom engine mounts so others results may vary. What air intake do you plan to use? I noticed the truck had a regular filter housing rather than the small plastic tophat seen on many Magnums like the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
