This doesn't look right...

When they say 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 inlet or outlet, they are referring to inside diameter. If you were to swedge the tailpipe over the outlet, it would be a very odd size, and you'd have trouble finding a clamp to fit. Your guy probably left the front pipe a little long, then had to shove the tailpipe in too far to clear the axle. It's going to take some heat and muscle to get it apart and straighten it out. Good luck

Right you are. Exhaust pipes are usually outside diameter and a 2 1/2" id muffler should fit over a 2 1/2"od pipe. Also the metal thickness for mufflers is thinner than the pipes so it makes sense for the pipe to be inside them. The clamp crushes the thin pipe to the thick one. toolman

I agree,it's wasn't done right, bottom line.Says to me that the guy was trying to get away with not doing a proper job. Of course I'm the idiot for not checking the job. :bootysha:

Naw.....you were the trusting soul that someone was gonna do the job RIGHT and not rip you off with crap work. I wish we were closer. I'd fix it for you myself. Worthless as tits on a boarhog, I know. But I would.

Wow, two pages for something that isn't a big deal. Sure the way it was done isn't really correct but its nothing that 5 minutes with a welder won't fix.

The big deal is that he paid good money for something that shouldda been done right the first time. You're right in that it's a small thing, which actually makes it all the worse because it couldda been done right from the onset with the same amount of effort it took to flub it up.
